They're definitely tight, I just installed them about a month ago and ordered another pair cuz I heard they burn out in like 3 months if they're on the bright setting, which IMHO they look the best in.

I put mine in about 2 months ago and I love them.
They weren't hard to install. Took about an hour.

You'll have to pull the gauge panel face cover off and the steering column cover, so it makes it easier to run the wiring.
And don't make the mistake I did and try and pull the speedometer needle off. headbang
It won't come off! I messed up the return spring and had to get another speedometer! The other needles came off fine, but be careful to make a drawing of where the needles are when the car is running. That way you won't get your gas gauge needle out of place...not fun standing on the side of the road out of gas!!

I spliced mine into the cigarette lighter light wire, and put the intensity switch in the little cubby hole next to it.
I love mine. I also striped and painted the back of my needles red, it shows up a lot better at night!
OH...I got mine off ebay for $25 bucks. I think the guy didn't want to go into the details to install them, but it's not hard. Regularly I think they're about $35 on ebay.
Good luck,
T

I got mine on www.ebaymotors.com

Just search for "Taurus SHO", you'll find quite a few of them. Also, they come with basic installation procedures which state "do not remove your needles"!

They're really easy to install. For my '93, I needed a T-20 and T-30 torx wrench to remove the steering panel cover and the dash components to get to the gauges. You dont need to take the needles off to install the gauges and you dont need to worry about making sure your gas needle is in the right place, or at least I didn't. Mine of course got moved accidently during installation and the needle automatically went back to its correct postion when I started the car up. Works just like it did before. But everyone's car may be different so shrug . Good luck and enjoy the envy because you'll sure get a lot of it!!!

At times like this, I wish I had a 90-95. Stupid 89's and their no indiglo gauges :(

Greg
Look around Greg, a member here named 'Piccolo' is making a set for his 89. There was thread in the open forum IIRC.
