He bought the SHO a few months ago for 2 grand cash. The radiator leaked, the heater core is bypassed, and it's been having this bumpy throttle problem ever since he's had it...

But the worst of it is I wrecked it :(. Last Saturday night ~1am I was leaving my mom's house, came off the highway to do a U turn under the bridge, and halfway through the first turn a dog is in the middle of the road. Naturally I slam on the brakes and they lock up, sending me over a curb into a pillar. The headlight on drivers side is gone, the bumper is pushed back to where it rubs a full size tire, the bumper support is pushed into the sub frame, the hood is banged up in the corner and the fender is banged up by the headlight...

The frame was kinked a little bit under the hood so it was shifted by the impact...

The body shop is going to fix the frame on a machine they have, and pull out the bumper support and make that line up again, and the hood will line up and the fender etc...and they'll put in a new headlight but ASAP I need to find a used hood and fender, the bumper cover is just scraped but in one peice with no dents or cracks....

So while I am looking for used parts I want to fix the throttle problem. I cleaned the IACV before the wreck, and I cleaned it about 3 times...same thing. I got a new air filter, same thing. New fuel filter, same thing. The spark plugs are the good old motorcraft ones and look like they've been in there for a while (carbon build up) and the wires, I dunno if they are good...

But an example of my problem is when I am just BARELY pushing the throttle to hold it at a certain speed at normal driving the car bobs back and forth and the throttle is jumpy. Sometimes even when I floor it it bobs...and a check engine light used to come on before I cleaned the IACV but it hasn't lately.

The last problem is that there is a loud popping noise when I am leaving from a stop in first, or if I am at a low rpm in a high gear and I give it some gas there is that popping noise and it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side but I can't be sure....it just goes pop pop...pop......pop like that then smoothes out.

Cliff notes if you didn't want to read it all:

-Got 89 SHO.
-Car is wrecked ATM with fender, hood, bumper, and bumper support damage and a frame kink but the frame and bumper are being fixed next week.
-Car bob's under steady throttle and sometimes at full throttle.
-Car makes about 4 or 5 pops from the front of it when you leave from a stop or give it throttle in a high gear.

Thanks for any help...

sounds like his dad got screwed pretty bad. If your 93 is nice cosmetically, you did OK.

sdpatt is right. that thing is worth more dead than alive. If you can have a parts car sitting around, keep it and buy another gen I. Or you could part it out. Take the proceeds and buy another one. You should be able to find a very nice gen I for under two grand. You might even get a lightly modded one in that price range.

Too bad I don't have cash....fixing this one is feasable but pulling 2 grand out of nowhere really isn't I don't think....who knows we'll see if I can get a loan, if I can I will buy another SHO if I can't....I'm stuck with what I got now.

Where are you located? I could hook you up with most/all of the parts needed to fix the damage for cheap if you are fairly local.

The popping is likely your cv joints, inner specifically. Eventually you'll hear a big pop, if going WOT in 1st gear, which results in massive grinding, or one of them will go, possibly with out a loud pop, under normal driving, and cause massive grinding. This will leave you stranded. Maybe the wreck damaged it!

Anyhow, it's cheaper to replace the whole axle, than repair the joint/boot.
