Hi names Matt, im a 24yr old Network Engineer. several Months ago I inquired on a 2010 SHO at which time it was mentioned that I look into the newer Gen SHO in which i did!

so I was out of town with the GF for some activities that we had planned this weekend which fell through, so I thought WTH ill check good ole autotrader and go for some fun test-drives. well I screwed up and test drove a 2013 SHO with PP. Long story short I bought it. Its Fully Loaded Minus Sunroof and Heated/Cooled seats.

I have some questions as the SHO is "Ford Certified Pre-Owned" so I have 1yr bumper to bumper and "Limited Powertrain" warranty until the car hits 100k miles. ive heard that this "Limited Warranty" blows and has lots of loopholes so I also got the MPP (Mechanical Protection Plan) Platinum with Service Care for used Certified cars which added 2800 bucks. this is supposed to add 100k miles of Warranty and Regular Service for practically free.. or is it?

so the numbers... got the SHO for $24,000 with 46k miles on BUT i was behind in the car I traded in (long story) so with a small DP, the negative Equity, and warranties im financing about 28k I personally dont feel like I got ripped since I also lowered my APR from 5.8 to 4.8 as well (im young good interest is hard to come by). how do yall feel about this deal? should I keep the MPP warranty or cancel it? has anyone on here ever had the platinum MPP warranty?

the Ford Service Department replaced the Rear Shocks, all four tires, and Spark plugs, plus the Ford Certified Inspection/maintenance on the vehicle before I purchased it.

I have a Buddy thats a Ford Technician who I inquired before I bought it about if he has seen any major issues with this gen SHO he literally just repeated "Buy it!" several times lol. ALTHOUGH, i do put about 24k miles on a car every year so what do yall feel about reliability in the SHO?

Congrats on your find/purchase! Warranties start from the day the vehicle was put into service originally. So look at the sales contract, it should specify the warranty end date/mileage. Since it is a CPO, I assume you bought the FORD, not dealer, service warranty? Not familiar with Platinum/ServiceCare type warranty. The Ford PremiumCare + Premium Maintenance plans would cost you around the amount you paid. I know in Canada, they do have the Ford Maintenance Protection Plan (FMPP).

Is this what you got? Did you shop online for the comparable Ford plans & have the dealer pricematch?

If you were looking for an extended warranty, get the Ford Premium Care. It is a true bumper-to-bumper warranty, just like the factory warranty. From what I see it looks like the FMPP you purchased is a maintenance plan, not an actual warranty. I'd see if you could convert the FMPP to a Premium Care Warranty, if you were looking for a warranty.

I agree that the Premium Care is the best product to have.

Reliability is just fine as long as you use synthetic oil and change it regularly.

Congrats on your new hot rod!

thanks for the replies. here are the warranties I have (not all are Ford)
1. Factory until 60k
2. Ford Certified Pre-Owned (1yr bumper to bumper And Limited PowerTrain until the car hits 100k miles)
3. heres the $2800 kicker.. I got sold on the MPP Warranty (Mechanical Protection Program) this company has been around since the 70s. its supposed to cover me for 7yr/100k miles from the point my factory warranty runs out, and from what I read it covers Powertrain, Electrical, and anything else that is not a "Wear" part on the car. this also comes with a Service program which they will change my fluids at Ford Specified intervals.
it covers: http://www.mpp.com/warranty-plans/certified-pre-owned-wrap-vehicle-coverage.htm

Covered Parts
You deserve to know what this plan covers, and more importantly, what it does not. For this reason, we are offering our customers Premier protection, a vehicle service agreement so extensive that virtually every mechanical and electrical component is covered. Items not covered:

Other parts not covered (except as described under Care Coverage) are glass, lenses, tires, wheels, wheel covers, hard and soft trim, weather strips, convertible or vinyl tops, moldings,
bright metal, sheet metal, body panels, body parts, bumpers, chassis frame, cross members, body rails, body hinges, carpet, upholstery, paint, belts and hoses, exhaust system (except exhaust manifolds), catalytic converter, brake rotors and drums, shock absorbers, spark/glow/plug wires, batteries, hybrid/lithium/high voltage battery pack, battery cables, wiper blades or inserts, keys/key fobs/transponders/keyless remote switch. In addition, correction of air and water leaks, wind noise, squeaks and rattles, and contaminated fuel systems are not covered.

ALL OTHER PARTS ARE COVERED!

That "in conjunction with a covered repair:" is a red flag loophole. I would make them exchange that MPP, which they push because is full of dealer profit, for Ford Premium Care. They will resist; you should persist. Cost of any extended warranty is always negotiable.

Warranties aside, $24k for a 2013 with 46k miles is pretty damn good! I just bought a 2013 with 44k miles a month ago for $26k and that was a good find IMO. Even with additional warranties, I think you got a very good car for the money. The only financials you need to worry about now are how much you'll spend in the mods category lol.

Thanks man although, after all is said and done I financed more like 28 or 29.

As for mods I may get a cat-back exhaust system but that's about it. I drive 20k+ miles a year and dont want to void warranties. Plus if this is an instant classic it will be worth more unmolested in the long run :)

I bought a 2013 SHO PP with every option including moon roof 34k miles perfect condition for 28k. Zurich extended bumper to bumper 6 years 100k mi for $2200. I did a lot of internet shopping and found a dealer in Iowa that price matched a dealer in K.C./Mo the dealer in Iowa was only a 3 hrs drive from me. They wanted $33k for the car I told them the exact same car in Kc was $28k with only 28k mi and they were willing to pick me up at the airport or train station. They agreed to price match and I purchased the car on 12/31/2013. I am so happy with the car. I installed a K/N cai and have a Diablo sport handheld tuner (InTune) I'm going to install in the spring.
