Pop lock n drop
I'm sure a lot of you saw the stuff on FB about my weekend in STL but for those that didnt, here's the story.
My tranny has been on its way out for about 6 months now and James got a hold of a new(er) one that was rebuilt and had very low miles on it. He quoted me a price that was extremely affordable considering the prices local shops wanted to charge for a rebuild. Brought the car to STL sat night and we started the swap Sunday morning at 9am.
During the removal of the tranny, we found that my front mount somehow got loose and 2 of the mount to block bolts had snapped off in the block. The lack of the mount caused my tranny mount to shear in half and the rear motor mount was in the process of sliding out of the metal housing. I brought a new front mount and tranny mount but didnt have a rear one so he gladly gave me a good on off his parts shelf. While he was working in extracting the bolts, I swapped in a new rack and we had it all back together by 3pm. James also gave me a couple newer SFB as one of mine was toast after being soaked in ATF from the rack leaking.
Went for a drive and discovered that I had no lock up or OD. Found a blown HEGO fuse which was replaced and that fixed the lock up but I still didnt have OD. Since James and myself were not too familiar with AX4N problems, we send Chris (Mr A) a text and he helped diagnose the issues. With the tranny in the car, James swapped out all the sensors as well as the OD solenoid on the rear of the tranny but none of that worked. By this time, its around 5pm, James had work in the morning and I had to drive back to KC (4hrs) to work the next day.
Found a few threads on the forum about a TSB involving the shift solenoid C and a metal clip that breaks in the valve body causing identical symptoms. Well, James pulled the entire valve body out of the tranny while still in the car and sure enough, we found a broken clip. Put it all back together and went for a drive at 9pm. Ran like a top. :sun:
If anyone needs any kind of work on their SHO, please go to St Louis and hit James up. he's an outstanding guy, does quality work for affordable prices and gets your shit done in one day no matter what the issue is. If I had taken my car to a shop in town and they hit these snags, you can bet money that they would have charged the shit out of me and kept the car for 2+ weeks. James did it all in a day.
Also thanks to SHO Dave for being our parts ***** and allowing us to loiter on your property.
