its the regulator! how much for new Alternator?

well we hooked up a voltimeter and withsome load it was going from 11volts to 13, jumping around. Battery had good charge, I called pep boys, they want 160 bucks plus $35 core. There has to be cheaper out there?

That's about how much I've seen them go for. Actually, that's a pretty good deal.

I belive I have seen rebuild kits for sale online. Advance Auto Maybe?

Edit: Looks like they have voltage regulators listed too, but even thoes are $60-80.

I just paid $135 (life warranty) for a built one in Texas. I saw up to 225 for a motorcraft with 1 year warranty.
