'94 3.2 w/ atx.. 198,000miles.

Took car out of storage the other day.
Started fine, was idleing fine (warming up) and it suddenly quits.
Acted like torque converter locked up.
Started fine again, was low on fuel so I drove it to gas station 2 miles away.
Seemed to have a serious hesitation and slow on accel.
Filled the tank and drove 10 miles on hwy.
It would run ok, and suddenly stumble and act like it had no power. I would acctually loose speed at steady pedal pressure, but then it would just take off again.
Threw 1 code = TCC solenoid not changing states.
Simple right...no.
Drove it again, same issue but not the same code.
Keep getting A/F issues = right bank rich Left bank lean etc.
Checked fuel pressure, it was 38 psi.
Replaced fuel pump and filter with OEM. Fuel pressure 47psi.
Drove again, still same issue and A/F codes.
Also getting code for secondary fuel pump relay circuit??????
Also, now idle will surge to 1,500 or so then down to 500 and then back to 750-800rpm on occasion.

Also, OD switch will ingage/disengage OD while gear selector is in P&N but not it any other gear.
OD does engage while driving, car seems to shift fine otherwise.
OD is locked out if I disengage while in P and then drive it.

Sorry for long post.... Any suggestions?
Thinking of TPS...what is test procedure useng VOM?

could very well be bad gas. anything done to the gas before storage? i would try to flush that old crap out and run some fuel system cleaner through with some good quality gas. could be something else. but if it ran fine before storage and now you get this, my money would be on just the gas.

Yeah that was my first thought too.
Ran 2 tanks through it since the fuel pump/filter change...no luck.

No it doesn't, but you can get most of the sediment in the gas tank to settle to the bottom in that much time. Especially if your fuel level is fairly low.

All that said, I've established that fuel is not the problem.

My brothers car did some of the same stuff after being parked for the winter.........turned out his computer was going bad. Put a new computer in and walah, he was back on the road. Not saying that is your problem. Fuel Pump???

I was thinking a bit more on this today as I was driving to pick up my wife...
I realized that I only seem to have issues once the car has been running for a while...say driven for 10-15 minutes or so.
If it is cold the problems seem to not exist.
I think the hesitation is more like I'm dropping cylinders than anything else.
(I ran a cylinder balance test and all was OK though)
I am going to get the ECM checked hopefully next week. I'm still hoping it's something more simple than that.(read; cheaper...lol.)

condensation forming on the inside of the gas tank? How full was the tank when you stored it?

This might sound like a long shot, but check to see if there is any sign of leakage from your water pump. You are experiecing many of the symptoms I had when my Crank Position Sensor went out due to a very slight water pump leak. I got no codes that made any sense, but thanks to this forum I was able to isolate and fix the problem.
I think the sensor was about $35 from Checker

When i was getting A/F codes like rich left bank lean right bank ect... It was O2 sensors they tell the computer how much fuel to give it just a posibility

I would recommend checking your ignition wires for leakage. If they are leaking spark you will get rich/lean codes. The best way to check for this is to lick your fingers and run them over the length of each wire. If and when your hair cathes on fire you have found the problem! (just kidding) :dribble:

Well,
The O2 sensors have been replaced last summer.
I do have leaking plug well seals. I am going to replace them this week.
I have not noticed any fliud leaks from the car, including coolant.
But, I should look into the CPS as the coolant pump and CPS are still original. (180k+ miles)
Plug wires are not arcing at all.....I tried the wet finger trick...lol. thanks.
Would the CPS cause the idele to surge occasionally?
Yesterday the car surged to 2500rpm then fell beow 500 and stalled.
It started up immediately after that though.
I never have any hard starting either.

I would be suspicous of plug wells soaked in oil, I would replace those and the plugs and wires to at least eliminate it as a problem.

I would look into it being the ignition coil based on the idle surging but who knows. Are you saying you've had the car since it was new and know for sure that the crank position sensor is the original?

I ran the car with OD off down the Hwy. yesterday.
Noticed that the problem existed until I was over 4k RPM. Then it seemed to dissappear.

Any clues?

check your plugs and plug wire boots. my was doing some of the same stuff before I changed my plugs there was about a 1/8' gap between teh contacts and the wire boots had a 2" crack on the back bank and was submerged in oil. if your doing the valve cover seals anyway might as well check them.
