If that tire was still mounted on the rim, you wouldn't even know about it. I wonder how many tires are out there with at least that much damage to the mounting area that was inflicted during the mounting process.
It hasn't been that many years since we were all driving 5000 pound cars around on 2 ply nylon tires, some with tubes and "boots" installed where the tire was really fubarred. And the main entertainment was "top ending" from town to town back then.

I think you could use it with a lot of caution. I think the forum members are right to think the main problem is the exposure of the "bead", so use some high tech rubber sealer to bury that bead again. Then mount it and leave it about a month to see if it looses any air. Then introduce it to the car when you know you will be doing light duty, like around town and close to home. If it passes all these hurdles, it is ready for legitimate highway speeds, but again with lots of caution.
I think it is possible to use it again, but it sure will be a lot of effort.

thanks but I just did look on ebay and called some shops around me and I think im just going to use the other 4 tires I have now until I save for a brand new set.

may not be worth the hassle.

the threads that provide the strength of the tires casing wrap around the bead. some threads appear cut or damaged in the pic. that compromises the tire. personally, I would not use it.
