Silly question I'm sure, but oh well... I'm in the process of an upper 60k. While I was pulling hoses and wires from the valve cover before removing it, this plug wire clip/retainer snapped. It was brittle and old anyway, nothing I could do about it. Is it important to have the wires secured by this or should I not worry about it. Anyone have an extra laying around and be willing to mail it to me... if yall think I need a new one? I'll gladly pay shipping.

When removing my intake much to my surprise, there was no 12mm bolt securing the intake to the bracket. No bolt, none, gone, nada. If this bolt is important does anyone have an extra laying around? Again, I'll pay shipping.

As of now the 60k is going well. I've found a few hoses and lines here and there I'll need to replace. I've got gaskets (thanks Matt) and I ordered spark plugs sometime last week from RCM. I never noticed it before but my wires are AC Delco's, meaning theyve been replaced at some point. I'm not going to replace the wires (I'm too broke for new ones anyway) so hopefully they'll last for a little while longer. Hopefully the wire clip and the bolt are all I'm going to need, but who knows with SHOs.

I've put some "so far" pictures online if anyone's bored... http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e193/littjaymo/2008 - 1993 SHO Upper 60k/
Big thanks to shophoenixproject.com :thumb:

edit: I do not need the clip and I do not need the bolt. I'll find them at a junkyard at some point in the future since they are of no immediate importance.

Neither one of those parts is "neccessary"....I mean, my 92 never had those plug clips. If you're feeling ****, you can go to Auto Zone or somewhere and pick up some aftermarket ones for dirt cheap.

As for the bolts holding the rear brackets in....completely unneccessary. I haven't had those brackets for 6 years. Not even sure why Yamaha put em there.......

I concur. Neither of those parts are necessary for proper operation.

I suppose the brackets were there to minimize vibrations in the intake that might lead to cracking... but come on. Seriously. Four of them?

Thanks yall, glad to hear it. I had a feeling those items weren't highly important, but wanted to double check.

Now... What's the best way to remove the rubber valve cover bolt seals from the valve cover?
I have a few small micro screw drivers I can get somewhat under them, but I don't want to inflict any damage. They're on there good, I imagine there's some RTV between them and the valve cover. I want to remove them so I can clean the covers up and paint them as long as they're off.
:thankyou:
