While doing my valve lash adjustment I noticed that my exhaust side of the valves are pretty much all 2.500 mm shims that have a gap of .330 mm. I have been installing 2.525 shims to bring it back down to .305 mm. My intake side is all at .203 mm gaps with 2.525 mm shims. So my question is, is it normal for the whole engine to use 2.525 mm shims?

One more question, is it also normal to be able to push down on the chain tensioner? It does come back up.

Thanks,
David

Tensioner is supposed to come back up and keep tension on the chain, so yes.
As for the shims...? I've never checked mine, at 162k now. most likely original timing belt too. lol guess I'll do that before Dearborn next year.
