Is there anyone here who actually ran a true dual exhaust?

I've read all I could about true dual vs single vs dual-single-dual.....which there ain't much on true duals at all....besides Vadim trashing them and Ted B saying his muffler shop special crush bend 2" true dual exhaust kicked ass and made more HP/TQ than any other hi Flo y pipe/cat back combo he had on the car albeit at the cost of rasp at lower rpm but he said he got used to it.

I could get a true dual crush bent exhaust for $250 on my car, maybe less if I let them keep the cat Convertors......Or $100 to have the mufflers welded to my existing cat back(it's in great condition,no rust, just a broken hanger) OR $150 to weld in the new mufflers and delete the cat Convertors.

Only reason I'm even considering dual exhaust because of the "if I just spend a little more $$$ on it right now,it'll be better for down the road" train of thought....5-10 HP/TQ at the wheels in these cars is a pretty nice little bump, esp for $250.

I plan on keeping the car NA for the foreseeable future, probably play with some nitrous.

My car is a ATX so there isn't much to be gained from a y pipe anyways....oddly enough,I've heard the ATX cars can gain HP/TQ by replacing the factory flex pipe that connects it to the exhaust with the Dynomax piece, anyone know if that's true??

The true duals i am envisioning will be 1 pipe str8 off each exhaust manifold all the way to a Muffler in the back. Maybe an X pipe could be fitted in but I doubt it,it doesn't look to be much space to work in....

I'm thinking dual 2" crush bent piping(factory looks like 1.75" crush bent),no catalytic Convertors and no resonators,2010 mustang GT mufflers I have laying around(heard em on another SHO and they sound awesome),and a set of dual electric cutouts!!!

I can live with drone/rasp no problem,I'm looking for HP/TQ and as you guys know, you fight for every little bit on these cars!! I see zach44102 running dual exhaust piping that's just long enough to get the gasses/heat away from the engine/trans on his car.....or should I say what little bit of exhaust there is on his car is true duals!lol

Anyone here beside Zach ever run a true dual setup??

Or am I just totally off base and gonna regret going duals?

I've been into these cars for a good while now and what I've seen over a long time--back when Vadim and Ted Breaux were active--is that all the tinkering and modifications I have done and the great stuff that others have done with forced induction and motor building and whatnot--you have to really accept that too much monkeying around makes these cars impractical as a daily driver. They will be much less enjoyable to drive, even less reliable than they are now, and they will never satisfy a real need for speed without FI.

If you want a fast car start with a different platform.

If this is a second car to mess around with then enjoy but, I've flushed enough money to learn the hard way, this car isn't going to be simultaneously fast enough and reliable enough to enjoy unless you accept close to stock as good enough for this model.

Yes. A few have run duals and the usual take away is less tq down low and a few extra hp up top. I doubt someone did extensive testing with x or h pipes with dual exhaust to get preferred performance levels. I wouldn't reinvent the wheel on this myself but if you want to pull the trigger you can always slap a stock option back in.
