The SHO is not so much high maintenance as it is maintenance intensive. If the car isn't abused and the required preventative maintenance services are performed on schedule, you shouldn't have a great many of the problems that are discussed in this section. My SHO has provided a long lifetime of dependable service and thorough enjoyment, but I have been willing and able to pay the costs of the effort to maintain it properly.

Another consideration to address with your question: these are not new cars. The V6 SHOs are at least 7 years and an much as 14 years past their production dates. Time and miles will wear a great many of the parts on the SHO or any car. There are probably few other automobile types where the owner group is as enthusiastic about their cars (Porshce owners come to mind). We drive these cars hard. Some are just downright abused. Not only in their useage, but also in their care. Take care of your car and it will take care of you, Continuing to travel with my trusy steed....

Snowwind currently showing @ 314,600 miles: I have to vote on the side of LOW Maintenance.
And yes, there are SHOs that are the other way. Not only because they are abused or neglected. It's like the parts they were originally built with were defective or something. And those will need replacing sooner than should be expected. But in all, I think that is rarer and not the norm.

Example of new high cost item repair: :( Snowwind has only just blown his second water pump. :( The other was replaced 5 years ago. I will be only making short trips til I save the money for r&r along with a new timing belt(4th one) and crank seal(3rd one)
Until then....I WILL REMOVE the RAD. CAP.....this time I want NO pressure and drive very carefully...thanking the SHOgods that it is winter.

God people, it's a car, not a god.
Rob...you have just devastated me! You mean to tell me I've been bowing in front of her every single morning, kissing her front bumper in sub-zero weather for NOTHING? ARRRrrrggg! :p :D
