You have the water pump which have been known to go around 100k miles and would be the first priority to check the weep hole for any seepage. Now that the dealer is changing the oil there goes the opportunity to check the oil for a milky color. To be honest I am a cynic and would say before they even have you a ride they would wipe down the weep hole near the oil filter to make sure you wouldn't know if there was a problem.

That said change ÀLL fluids PTU/RDU - transmission - no filter to service - brake fluid - and antifreeze.

Then review shocks / struts brakes and suspension including wheel bearings and half shafts.

Then read this like the bible https://shoforum.com/threads/sm105ks-ownership-performance-maintenance-thread.138235/
OK, thanks so much for the info. I am cynical as well, so thank you for the insight. I forgot to check the dipstick but like you said if it’s a fresh oil change, it could be hiding some problems but I’ll check today anyway before I take it home. I thought you weren’t supposed to take change transmission fluid unless there’s a problem? I’ve never had an SHO or any Ford for that matter so I don’t know if that’s what you do on Fords. I’ve had GMs for a lot of my driving life.

It took me a while to figure out that the telescopic/tilt steering wheel feature was power so I located the switch on the left-hand side and the up-and-down arrows of course did the tilt function, but I’m assuming that the horizontal arrows control the telescoping feature? That didn’t seem to work but then I forgot about it until now because I was looking at all the other features of the car making sure that they work. I’ll recheck that today before I leave. I need that to work given my height.

Yeah, this video shows how it’s supposed to work. The second half of the video is the power option. Mine was going up and down for tilting but it wasn’t doing the telescoping feature. I just asked the sales guy to have their guys check it before it before I take delivery today.

Also forgot to ask, do you guys recommend getting the extended warranty? I told them no the other day but I was mulling it over more. What thing should I make sure are covered on the warranty if I decide to negotiate a price for it?

is IT the Ford extended or their dealership or some other company - get a clear list of what's NOT covered - if its Fords - go for it - especially with the water pump being a VERY costly repair. It will give you peace of mind that no one is hiding anything - and the dealership might be hiding an issue - knowing someone will pay - they dont care who.

IMO, Ford ESP warranty is the only one to consider. All aftermarket warranties are a PIA to deal with. I doubt they are trying to sell you a Ford ESP warranty.

Since it is an Infinity dealer I don't believe it would be the Ford Warranty. Sorry for all the questions. I didn't think I would be buying a car this week and am trying to make sure I think of the big stuff before signing the deal.

So I just picked it up and found this in the cover for the owners manual. Seems like it’s from the second owner.

Did you decline the warranty? Did they fix the telescoping wheel issue? I've owned ford's my entire life and I can say hands down this is the highest maintenance of any of them but it's also a very rewarding car to drive. As long as you keep up the maintenance, the little things (like a non functional telescoping column) stay little. That said there are a few big maintenance things that come up eventually like water pump and timing chains, but there's a wealth of knowledge on this forum and don't be afraid to ask questions, at the very least someone can point you to a thread for answers.

I did decline the warranty as it was from Infinity. And magically the telescoping feature worked today. The salesman said they checked it out and it was working. I know it wasn’t yesterday so they must’ve did something. I’ve worked in IT for over 30 years so I’m very big on preventative maintenance. I’m not sure if my previous post included the picture that I took but I found a big index card with handwritten maintenance records. I’ll attach it to this post. Looks like it’s from the second owner based on the Carfax records. if you look at it I’m hoping it’s a mistake because it looks like the transmission fluid has been changed twice already. is that normal? I’m really glad I found this forum. I’ll try not to ask dumb questions. I’m not mechanically inclined, so I really don’t do any work on my cars. It seems like on some car forums you get shunned if you’re not someone who does their own work.

Could of been a fuse maybe

Well over maintenance is the game for keeping this car healthy and long lasting.

I do wish it had CarPlay and I’m watching a YouTube video now showing that there is an upgrade from sync 2 to sync 3 so you can get CarPlay but other than that I’m really impressed with all the features of this car. never had anything like it.

You WILL get or perform an upgrade there is a great YT video from a vendor who sells parts - also read this if you want to do it yourself and source non China refurb or recalled parts. There are many threads here that talk about sources for parts and procedures.

Thanks so much for this. I was going to look on the forum since I figured others have done the upgrade.

You won't regret it - I love fof.my sync 3.4
looked on infortainment.com and given the price of those kits for sync 3 I may need to wait a bit. didn't think they would that expensive. want to get a vehicle health check at a Ford dealer first.
