Hey all,
Well, tonight while pulling away from a stop sign, it felt like my clutch was slipping. My clutch pedal has always taken up high, but this time it was unreal. Believe me, it took a lot to get out of that intersection. Can it be adjusted. I'm not sure if the clutch has ever been replaced. I bought the car with 143K on it, now I have nearly 10K more on it, so could it be time to upgrade? Also, just so that you have all the facts, I went to the race track less than a month ago and probably turned more 30 laps. This may have the culprit to this problem. Please tell me your thoughts.

Sounds like the clutch is toast. Adjusting it seems like it might be a temporary fix, but it sounds like a new clutch should be the next thing you purchase. But that's IMO.

It's amazing how quick it went. I was just washing my car and then on the way back, after a couple of stops and gos, it just started acting up. I will be in the market for a new clutch. However, is it difficult to do the temporary fix? I need some way to get around.

If it was right after washing the car, are you sure there's no ice buildup some place? I'd be checking that out first.

Adjusting the clutch is easy. Put your foot under the clutch pedal and pull up on it. If you hear a click click you've just adjusted it. If not then it didn't need to be done.

If it is in need of adjustment you can use your foot to pull the clutch pedal up with about 10 or so pounds of force. If a (click) is felt or heard the adjustment was needed.I pull on my clutch all the time but feel nothing,I must be getting old.Hope this helps

It was about 50 degrees here yesterday, so I don't think it was ice. When I got back I tried putting my foot under the pedal and lifting it. No dice. I'll try again today and try to do it with my hand this time.
