If you search around you will find instructions on how to cut a hatch in the floor for access to the pump. This took me around 1 hour to do it that way. But you need to be very carefull when cutting it out. You could also drop the tank thats the harder way if your car has rust on it.

I dropped the tank, it took me about 1.5 hours. it was pretty straight forward. the only issue i had was i put the strainer on the pump to test fit it before actually installing it in the tank assembly and accidentally pushed it completely on the pump. In my attempt to remove it, i broke the strainer. $4.00 later and a trip to autozone, i finished the job. My tips would be- Dont forget to do your fuel filter while you are down there. And mind your fuel lines... they will flex, but can break. Over all if the rust isn't too bad and you have a helper to hold the tank while you secure the tank straps, it's not bad at all. I consider myself on the extremely amature side of home mechanic.

That's BS. It's not hard, but it is time-consuming... at least when you do it my way (the dremel way). Taking the back seat out takes 5-10 minutes. I used a dremel to cut the hole in the back seat. Downside = takes a really long time and you go through A LOT of cutoff wheels and it gets really hot, gotta be careful to not let the magic smoke out. Upside = the cutoff wheels aren't big enough to cut fuel lines so you don't have to worry about making anything go boom. After you get the hole cut and the flap out of the way, it takes - at most - 30 minutes to swap the pumps, and most of that is futzing with connectors. Then, close the flap and 10 minutes to put the seats back on. If you need to do it again, it's a 20 minute procedure. ****, if you carry a spare pump in the trunk, you can change it on the side of the road easy.

To answer your question: Its easy. But then again, I think a 60k is easy.

And I think a suspension job is easy :naughty: :salute:
And how about a custom roots supercharger install? Easy too. But very time consuming ;)

The entire "how hard is it" question is going to be very difficult to answer. There are SO many degrees of experience/knowledge/abilities to take into consideration. And you must also add into the equation having the proper tools, and a proper facility to perform such jobs.

As for the fuel pump replacement.....

On a scale from 1-10, 1 being the easiest.... like changing the air filter. And 10 being the hardest, like overhauling a motor...

Id rate the fuel pmp install at a 2. Anyone could do it, assuming you have the proper tools, take the proper precautions, and have the ability to follow written instruction.

Just make sure if you drop the tank that you only have about 1/8th of a tank of gas in there, otherwise you're going to hurt yourself.
