Iowa SHO Meet and Autocross July 8th

I got the green light from the Mustang Club president so we are on for July 8th. They really want some SHO's to race.

The meeting will starting around 9:00 in the morning. We will probably go for a short cruise for lunch. Overall the meeting will be informal.

The racetrack is small, but a lot of fun and there is a big parking lot for us to hangout in. This is not door to door racing, there is only one car on the track at a time and you race the clock. It cost $25 dollars to race and you need a helmet. If you plan to autocross, please be on time since this is not our event. Registration is at 9:00 with a drivers meeting at 10:00. They usually race until 4:00 or 5:00. There are some race prepped Cobras there every year that are pretty amazing.

There was a Saleen up there on May 7th, he tore the track up! 1:19:37 for the 2 laps, compared to the 1:24's the two z06's that showed up were getting, and the 1:28 the Focus SVT got. There were some nice red racing stang's up there too, getting around 1:20-1:21. Tons of fun! You definitely gotta go! (I think my best time was 1:38:12) - and 1:38's on the other 3 runs.

Oh yeah, there was a GT-40 up there too, and a Shelby Cobra replica, definitely worth it just to watch and see the cars, even if you don't want to run the track.

I'll be leaving Indianola around 7:15am with a friend who is in the club, if anyone wants to get up there early and get signed up before the crowd shows up (had about 48 people last time) - lemme know and join us on the way up!

My car would have been sitting there next to my friends yellow GT conv....but I guess the photographer didn't want a picture of an ugly red taurus next to that sex machine, so he took it when I was gone. All my crap was still in the way though

It's fun to drive on, you definitely oughta bring your audi down, there was an 03 A4 up there and he wasn't doing too bad, about same time as the GT-40 was.

I am hoping for 10 SHO's at this event. I figure we might have 5-6 going now.

I am definitely coming, and my friend will too if he picks his SHO up by then.

I've been seeing quite a few SHO's (including a very nice ES V8 on Mills Civic Pkway) on the roads these last few days, maybe I'll stop a few of em and ask em

Hopefully I'll be getting my SHO today (6-12-06) but I will definately have it in time for the meet. If I dont have to work I will be there.

Would anybody from Des Moines happen to have an extra set of spark plug wires setting around? I just FUBARed one of mine out trying to get the boot off of the plug, and don't have the dough right now to buy a brand new set.
