And you have indiglo gauges, whats your point? The muffler serves a useful purpose on my car since a full open 3 inch exhaust would get me alot of tickets and I would probobly still catch flak with a 3" exhaust tip from closed minded people so i'm gonna get flak whether I have the muffler or not. Only difference is I can/will offer anyone the chance to back up thier mouth at the track if they think thier car is so much better. If you think your car is better only because it has a ford emblem and has stock exhaust then step up and prove it.

And thats not just for you, its anyone that picks on "import tuners", if you are beating eclipses in your sho then your picking on the base model 90hp POS with your top of the line "performance" model ford. Its like taking a v8 camaro against a 4 banger mustang and then saying all fords and/or mustangs are slow after the camaro stomps the stang. Both ford and chevy have fast cars but racing a top of the line model built specifically for speed agaist the base model car that is designed for good fuel economy is a pointless race.

Go find a turbo eclipse, bone stock or modded, fwd or awd wont matter in this case, and he will hand you your a$$ on a silver platter. Maybe a wrx? or an RX8? mustang? camaro? or pretty much any vtech honda? If your gonna race something then you should choose to race something that is geared twards performance and not 40mpg. Bragging that you beat a car with less than 200hp means you have too much money to waste on gas for pointless races.

My car is not fast, I never said it was, however you calling my car a chick car when you drive an AT taurus (which is a chick car for ugly chicks and grandmothers IMHO) is, how do they say? The *** calling the kettle black?

I never said your car didnt keep you happy and i'm glad it does, mine keeps me happy most of the time too but when ignorant statements are made about the parts I choose to put on the car I get unhappy. I am a performance enthusiast, I like pretty much all fast cars (would **** for a newer f-body ), I dont like show cars, I dont like excessive body modifications and I dont like people who talk about things they know nothing about. If someone says a car is riced out (especially my car) because the muffler has a large tip when the exhaust is only marginally smaller than the tip itself it is an ignorant statement. dual 3.5 inch tips are commonplace on 2.5 inch press bent exhaust systems on pickup trucks, I dont see how a single 4 inch tip on a 3 inch mandrel bent system is any different.

Do you understand what a muffler is? Muffler = less noise, if I could get away without a muffler around here I would but I would get alot of tickets for it because it would be so loud. Not to mention I can always stuff the silencer in the muffler and make it quieter than stock if I want to restrict my exhaust back down to 1.5"

You do like to generalize dont you? I never said my exhaust or intake system add any power at all, I'd be willing to bet they did but honestly I dont care either way as they are necessary supporting modifications for other mods.

I do have apperance mods on my car just as you do, so i'm not all about speed. I have painted factory wheels, tinted windows, tinted tail lights and clear corners. If thats riced out to you then it doesnt bother me because they are basically just mods I did so I would like the car more. Honestly I like some light appearnce mods if done tastefully, which from the pics on your cardomain page look quite nice IMO, I like the intake(big fan of black)

I would hope most people do appearance mods to please themselves and not others and thats fine IMO, its your car do with it as you please. But it does bother me when someone says that a performance mod that I put on is pointless or gaudy, especially when they have no performance mods to speak of and no real backing to the statement other than "a tip larger than 'X' diamater automatically deems this guy as a ricer" regardless of the fact the person may not have had any choice but to use a muffler with a larger tip or that the exhaust is so large it looks like a fart pipe tip with just the bare pipe sticking out much less any kind of a nice looking tip that has to be larger than the pipe so it will even fit.

DSM's came with leather seats, 90-94 were manual, 95-99 were power. Whats your point?

Just so i'm sure i've got this right... you have a pair of cast iron exhaust manifolds, each having a pipe going through thier own catalytic convertor, then joining together into a single what? 2 inch diamater pipe, with press bends going to the rear of the car where it then splits back up into dual tips so it looks like a performance car and not a family sedan, correct?

That is not dual exhaust, that is dual exhaust TIPS... there is a difference, the main one being the fact that one single tip has far less flow disruption. Since I care more about how the exhaust flows on my car than how it looks I chose not to put dual tips on my car...

THEN WE'LL SEE WHO HAS THE NICER CAR.

'Nicer' is an opinion, I could say my car is 'nicer' cause it has awd instead of wrong wheel drive, 5spd, has more power, better et, better trap speed, higher top speed, better handling and better all weather driving ability... but wait, those are facts, not opinions... I guess i'll just say 4 burnout marks > 1 burnout mark then cause thats my opinion...

GTP's are decent, but I find it hard to belive one would be terribly afraid of an SHO if they had anything done to it.

I dont 'compare' anything other than timeslips...

I'll be up at tri-state raceway (earlville) when it opens if anyone here wants to back up thier dual exhaust and leather seats with some timeslips :corn:

Bob, we understand you have a fast car, no need to keep repeating yourself or bother with the two that are doing nothing but instigating more arguments by making petty insults about your car. I keep hoping something worthwhile has come up, like possibly a new member, since you're using the Introduce Yourself thread, however all I'm seeing is worthless ******** over who has the nicer/faster car. ******** about this stuff online is pointless no matter how you look at it. Accept the fact that "nice" is all in the eye of the beholder and you have to spend a lot of money if you want to be really fast.

i dont like DSM's. my heart is on SHO's, 5.0 stangs, and late 70's and 97-newer ford trucks.

I have nothing against sho's, I dont see many of them that are fast but I also dont get harrassed by base model taurus' constantly on the street like I do with v6 mustangs and other slow versions of real performance cars that are not worth my time or gas. If someone has a decently fast car I respect it, I dont care what badge its wearing...

i know the limits of my car (about 140-145 top speed(i know this one ), 0-60 in about 6.9 seconds on a good launch according to the gtech.) thats more than can be said for about 98% of the "import tuners" here. and for the Vtec honda statement......most of us in a good running condition will smoke a vtec, just tonight i handed a civic SI its booty, and im perty sure theyre vtec.... i dont really pay attention.

Civic Si's run in the high 15's/low 16's, right in the area of an AT SHO. A mid 90's VTEC prelude or Integra would run right with a MT SHO in the mid 15's. I'll give you that a SHO would take out any Cavalier Z-24, or ******-GT of their time and really are not bad cars for scooting around in traffic (220 HP wasn't too shaby at the time) but saying that you can take out about anything with a big tipped muffler just means your not racing anything with a big pipe to back up the tip

Go to the local tuner spot and look for any of the cars i mentioned earlier, chances are they will be the ones hiding in the back corner of the parking lot with big intercoolers, lightweight wheels, and big exhaust behind the muffler. Check out their car, talk to them, share race stories, etc. You dont have to hate the driver because they chose a different platform to go fast... as long as they dont make it look *** and then claim its fast... Everyone has a reason for choosing the car they did, I had a FWD turbo laser for a while while my Talon was down because of bad valve seals, but I couldnt stand the understeer and constant fight for traction at anything less than 40mph and it was all stock. Because of that car I have decided I will never try to make a fwd car fast, mainly because I would not like to be playing catch-up all the time because I couldnt go wide open off the line because of tire spin but also because the "do stupid stuff" (doughnuts, drifting, powerslides, etc) is so much fun I like my car because it is versitile, I can drive it every day no matter the weather (something alot of high hp rwd cars cant say), the engine is bulletproof and the aftermarket support is huge so mods are cheap.

the ony thing i know is that a friends 92 talon TSi is AWESOME! it makes my tummy hurt. especially the nice 5k rpm AWD launch.

Bah, only 5k? I have a 6k rpm stutter box and 6.5k rpm no lift to shift

so i guess i shouldnt have said anything until i got a ride in ur car.

People can think what they like about me or my car, I really do not care. I know how fast my car is and what I can and cannot beat, it doesnt matter who thinks they can beat me. If they can beat me then they obviously have a faster car, have won the bragging rights and can say what they like, but if they cant beat it or are unwilling to race then they shouldn't be calling it a ricer. Even more so if the person is being hypicritical and calling my car a ricer when they have no performance mods to speak of.

Luther - I did not come here to start anything, I was simply curious to see if anyone knew who owned said SHO because I was curious about what, if anything, was done to it and if he wanted to meet up at the track and meet my friend who used to have several SHO's. Apparantly he is not on this forum so thanks for your time anyway.

You know so whatever dude it doesn't matter if it is all wheel drive and you either only lay 4 '' black marks or you wouldn't be able to see em. let me explain that. your front wheels start spinning right? at the same time your back wheels start spinningt right? ok then the back wheels will cover up your front tire black mark and then you only have two black marks. duh.

Have you ever sat in DSM seats? They are quite comfortable and many street rodders use them for thier own custom cars because of how comfy they are.

My wing? My car has the stock spoiler that came on the car factory but I do not see a wing.

I have already explained the muffler is there because I want to go fast, but apparantly you dont care about going fast since having nice looking dual tips with an extremely restrictive exhaust is far more important to you than a free flowing exhuast with a single tip.

My wheels? My wheels are stock, I sanded and then painted them because they were corroding but they are stock. Stock wheels are quite heavy, lightweight wheels are considered a performance upgrade, not neccesarily just a visual upgrade.

1) The point of AWD is that you can keep tire spin to a minimum, ussually if I launch right it just spins the fronts lightly while the rears pick up the slack and it really doesnt leave any marks. While this may not look as "cool" as a bunch of tire smoke it is far more effective for winning races.

2) If I did want to be "showy" its easy enough to make a rwd/awd car come out of the hole sideways with a twitch of the steering wheel. The rear marks wont cover up the front marks when the car is doing a burnout sideways... duh...

And yes, if I want it to it does leave 4 nice marks, but a 90hp metro can do a burnout... it doesnt say much about your car being fast just being able to do a burnout...

A ricer is a person who puts all or mostly show car parts on thier car and then claim its fast.

If you are calling someone else's car a ricer because you dont like what they did to it or down on it because its not a ford/chevy/dodge and no other reason when it would rape your car without even trying is being closed minded and rude. Calling someone elses car a ricer when your car has a bunch of pointless visual modifications, is slow, and claiming you can take out so many cars (nevermind the fact that you are racing dog slow 17 second cars and wont line up against any real performance cars) would make you a rude, hypocritical closet and/or domestic ricer as trigger has said.

If you want to call a person a *** tuner because they dont drive a ford, chevy or dodge then you would fit better into that category more with a yamaha engine than I would with my car. Manufactured in Normal, IL (Picture is from a sales broshure for a 90 Talon)

Got a new ride. considering that i'm only 14 i consider myself lucky to have two Cars. To make the two better there both SHOs. I had a 93 white/grey atx but now i bought my bro's 95 Red/mocha. I love that car cuz it is practically perfecccccccccct. The kid next door that has a Hyndai Tiburon Fx(oh fast fast) and he even says its (o.k.) and i'm thinking "dude if you even want to say this car is just ok then you have problems, major problems" cuz i just hate when they say that other cars that arn't imports are just ok. Anyway peace. and there has to be many more people that own shos in iowa. Any ideas where the first meet will be???
