My blower fan that defogs the windows and heats the car stopped working the other day. One day I started it up and it didn't work for about 20 minutes, but then all of a suddden kicked in. I thought it was just frozen and it seemed to work the rest of the day. But then the next day it would not work at all. Its been really cold the past week and was wondering if the motor was just frozen or if its time for a new one. The previous owner had it replaced once already. Also I noticed when the car is at idle and the climate control is off, the engine temp rises to the middle of normal while it is usually at the bottom. Does the radiator fan blow the whole time the climate control is on?

Could posibly be the blower motor controler. This is mounted inside the heater core box, and can be accesed from under the glove box. Check that our first by jumping 12v right to the blower motor wires.

The problem could be a connector or the motor controller, but it could also be the motor. When the blower motor in my '90 failed, I took it out and tested it on a bench; it worked fine there. I think the brushes wore out such that they made intermittent contact with the slip rings. And beware of cheap aftermarket blower motors that don't carry lifetime warranties. My first replacement didn't last too long.
