Intercooler for Supercharger

I did not realize that there were so many SHO's with intercoolers. All I heard about was a couple with water injection and the rest were just straight FI.

Oh, by the way Tim, the new third gear will be ready thursday and it should have the car up and running soon. I'll try to take pictures of it and the modified gearset before I install it.

Hey Brian! No, it is not Josh's gearset. It's just third gear remade out of some exotic material (thanks to our US military) . This material is suppose to give under a certain load and then go back to its normal shape.
This company uses this material to make helicopter rotor gears. He says that when the helicopter is going up, the gears on the rotor shaft almost become straight and then they bend back to its original shape once they ease off the gas.

Wow, that would probably help a lot. I assume the input shaft is going to be unmodified?
How did you get the gear made? Any chance of mass production?
Too bad when third gear lets loose, you have to replace the mainshaft too, or else a single gear would be a great way to go if you blow out third.

Well we're hoping that if third gear would give a little, the gear on the input shaft will not break.

Yes, mass production will be in the works. But not until its been proven. I'm the guinne pig.

I'm also having the whole gearset made out of the same material, and the input shaft will have removable gears like the gear shaft. Which allows for some wider teeth on the gears.

The gears will not have any sharp edges on them which has the pontential to break easier ( unlike the stock gears)

But anyways, I could go on ramping about this. I will have to install the gears on my car and dog the crap out of the tranny to see if it is going to break first. Best thing about this whole thing is it will be around 3 grand for the whole gearset with removable gears. But, thats if it holds up.

Intercooler is technically the wrong term. Both types cool the charge AFTER they have been heated. For some reason though, when most people talk about a standard air/air setup, they call it an intercooler, and when people talk about a standard water/air setup, they properly call it an aftercooler.
It's still a good way to give a simple name to each setup type.

BAH! All you guys think too conservatively. If you attend the 05 convention, be on the lookout for a SHO powered car hailing from the Great White North with 500 WHEEL HP and 500 lb-ft WHEEL torque. And all of that power will make it to the ground, even in third gear. :****:

Why is it the FUTURE home of the most powerful SHO on the planet? Heads/cams/bigger turbo/more boost... A lot of things can happen to the turbo SHO by the 05 Convention

It's true, I may have to give up the "most powerful" bragging rights by then, alot can happen in a year and you guys have a big head start. But it will still be the fastest in the 1/4 bar none. Think AWD.....

LOL...no. The objectives of this project will be achieved through non-traditional means. That's all the info I'm going to release for now(500hp/500tq/AWD) I may trickle some details out later as things progress. I have the major components in-hand right now, it's just a matter of finding time to start wrenching.

Well I know the second SHO engine will fit in the trunk of a Topaz, I thought about doing that at one time. Even measured it all out when I had my '93 Tempo.
