not to be a dick, but this gets debated more than the cost of fuel these days. Some love them and think they help, but I'll pass. I'll stick to my $9 paper filter and keep my 1/12th of a horsepower.
I've not come across a single problem with my K&N panel filter in my stock, albeit ''modifie'' airbox. while there may be no noticeable power gains, as stated, intake noise is certainly louder, and damned if i didn't pick up 3mpg with the thing. that, and it's nice to only have to buy one filter and the occasional cleaning kit. by the by, the stock airbox technically is a cold air intake, as it draws cold air from the fender well.
