After getting my car back from my mechanic(the car wouldnt stay started) i noticed that there was coolant on the ground and steam coming from the bottom right of the intake. I can look down there and see coolant just collecting down near the inatake gasket. Is this do to me reusing the old gasket or misalignment. Whatever it is its causing the car to loose pressure and over heat. PLz help me out in pin pointing the problem....

btw the car is shooting really hot steam from that side with white smoke coming from there to.

My first reaction is that a hose got left unplugged or loose. Let everything cool and then check the hoses.
There are some coolant hose that hook up to the throttle body/area.
Heres a picture of the throttle body area from www.shophoenixproject.com

If the car runs OK the intake manifold is probably seated just fine.

Isnt there a way to bypass that and potentially make the intake stay cooler?

Yup, but I've never done it. I live in Michigan and the winter temps get to -5 or so. I would be afraid that it would freeze my throttle open.

Never had a problem in Illinois and that's with temps below 0F.

It's probably safe to bypass it. But there has to be a reason they put it there.

The hoses that go to the throttle body warm the throttle body. This action is know to the aircraft world as carb heat. This is used when the intake temps are at or near freezing typically between 30-40 Degrees F as the ventury in the throttle body lowers the temp by increasing velocity and decreasing pressure. With this said the throttle body is most likely to freeze or stick when this ice forms at that temp stated, and the "carb heat" keeps this from happening. Pretty neat huh:type:

Also when the ambient temp is above or below 30-40 range this does not pose a problem.

ok back on topic,:naughty: whats the steam shooting from under the manifold.

The steam might be coolant thats coming from one of the hoses underneath the throttle body, that have either been pinched during installation, or not installed at all. Take a look at the first picture 93rev2sev posted, which pretty much shows what you should be looking for.

Go to AutoZone and rent a coolant system pressure tester. Let the car cool, then attach the tester and pump it up. Your leak will appear rather quickly, and you won't have any hot fluids to deal with.

And I agree with most everyone else, your probably gonna find a leak in one of those hoses under the throttle body.

I have my coolant hoses to the throttle body bypassed. I live in Buffalo N.Y. and have been driving my car for three winters with no problems with freezing, plus it makes taking the intake off alot easier.
