Intake/Exhaust valve identification

I am in the process of doing my valve seals, how do you tell which valves are intake and exhaust on the engine?

intake seals should be brown and the exhaust black

Intake valves are on the inside, exhaust valves are on the outside. Intake valves are on the intake ports, exhaust valves are on the exhaust ports.
