I emailed Anthony D last week with basic questions about his mounts for my 2016 SHO. Needless to say, within a couple days, they were in my sweaty little hands, and I just installed them today.
It was a very straightforward job, so much so that I keep expecting to find I did something wrong. The only hiccup is that stupid last bolt next to the downpipes. I have a Stainless Works exhaust installed, and I don't know if that helped or hurt the process. I could reach the bolt just fine with a wrench and socket, for the most part. But getting it torqued to the 75 FT-LBS with my torque wrench ain't happening. So I used the wrench and tightened it as much as I could. Used blue Loctite, so I'm hoping everything is good to go.
I can't believe how different the car feels now. I'm actually amazed that they're able to leave the factory with all that slop designed in with the OEM mounts. Are those things like that simply so the average driver doesn't have to experience the vibrations of more solid mounts, or is there some more legitimate reason (i.e., long term reliability)? But again, just a night & day difference!
I did notice the vibrations actually increasing somewhat the more I drove, but nothing even remotely close to being bothersome. I know it's supposed to subside after several hundred miles, and I only drove about 10 so far, so no worries at all. I guess the one and only concern I do have at this point is the trouble people have run into with the knock issue. Is this a legit problem to keep my eye out for? Or was that more of a problem with the original design?
