I just bought a '90 SHO yesterday. It's been sitting for 5 or so years and I haven't had the chance to drain the gas tank yet so I can't try to start it out of fear of ruining the fuel delivery system, but I went ahead and installed a new battery to test the accessories. So far the only things I've noticed are the CEL flickering intermittently along with random relays under the hood clicking madly seemingly at random. Also, the fuel pump seemed to prime every once in awhile even though I never touched the key. Seems pretty strange.

This is kinda my first actual project car... It's been home to various bugs, snakes, and whatever else may have taken up residence inside over the years. At that I could have a multitude of problems, but I'm not really in much of a hurry. I haven't had much time to look at it in depth yet but I'm not quite sure where I should start... Maybe an exterminator lol. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I tested the fog lamps and though they didn't light up the button light on the dash was flickering. Maybe has something to do with the problem?

I would start by cleaning your battery terminals and cables thoroughly, and confirming that the POS cable is securely bolted to the starter solenoid on the fender, and at the underhood fusebox (I think the 90 has one). Ensure the ground from the battery is securely bolted to the engine behind the starter.

If all of those connections are solid, then I would suspect the CCRM (module bolted to the radiator support, under the plastic cover, just next to the upper radiator hose.

the symptoms you describe can be caused by a bad connection at the pcm and/or by bad grounds in the engine compartment. since the car sat for an extended time, dirty connections are not unexpected, so I would carefully identify and clean all the grounds in the engine compartment and also the pcm connector.

As stated. definitely sounds like bad connections and/or battery. Get some connector cleaner, it's labeled MAF cleaner but it safe for plugs, and spray the inside of all the visible connectors while you're cleaning everything up.

definitely check all of the fuses.

I'm cleaning out the engine bay tomorrow (today) with compressed air so I should be able to check wires and connections soon after. I'll post an update as soon as I can.

I just did an engine rebuild and I'm running into the same prob. The ccrm is going crazy and sounds like a computer when its thinking. Lol but I've cleaned and secured all grounds that I can see. I'm so confused

the last time I experienced your symptoms, it was because the connector at the pcm was not securely properly. check that and clean it if needed.
