Some of my close friends know that I have had "popping" issues at WOT from 5k to 6250. Started right after we went to Cecil County in Nov. I figured it was the "winter gas". So really didn't freak out. The issue was there all winter, but since I didn't drive the car much didn't focus on it much. Now the weather is nicer and the track is open, I revisited the issue. Noticed on my Aerforce gauge that the DI pressue didn't seem to be as high as it should be and the fuel pump voltage and DI pressures seemed to really fluctuating a lot. So I took the chance and replaced the tank pump and fuel pump driver too. WOW what a different, DI pressure is back over 2000 PSI at WOT and surging is gone. From what I can figure out, is that the tank pump was weak and the driver had to work harder to send more voltage to the pump. So over time just got worse. I never lost driveablity when I drove it, just that "popping" at hi rpm's. I got an Airtek fuel pump, Rockauto had the best price. So, if anyone has a pump go out or is slowly going out, I suggest is to replace both parts.
