My sho always had very very light tick but not unless if u were really listening for it and if the hood was open. Now I noticed today if I'm standing in front of the car and the hood is shut, I can hear the tick and it's definetely louder.. Any one know if it could be the injectors? I don't beat on it much maybe once a day for a very very short time.. So maybe it could be from inside the motor not sure if anyone has any ideas or a way to figure out what it is actually coming from please let me know.
Thanks, Ryan

I'd start by posting this again in the correct section. You'll get a lot more feedback if you put it in the Gen 1 and 2 Help and Maintenance section.:thumb:

As far as your tick goes, try to isolate an area where you think the tick may be coming from, and then post again. It's hard to diagnose anything when the entire engine compartment is suspect.

Is it a V8 or V6? V6 I would say most lilkely cause, if it is getting louder, is a cam chain tensioner.

yeah and I started it up this morning when the engine was still cold and the tick was back to how quiet it used to be.. so I'm going to keep track of it for the next few days and pay attention to when it ticks warm or cold.. and I'm also going to try to find out exactly where the tick is coming from, I'm hoping just the injectors

definitely sounds like either a cam chain tensioner or injectors. Take a long screwdriver and hold the blade against the valve cover where the chains are... put your ear to the handle and see if the tick gets a lot louder. If that doesn't do it, hold it against the fuel rail and repeat. Make sure you don't get it caught in something... if you're not comfortable with this idea, AAP sells mechanics' stethoscopes (which the screwdriver is a cheap, ghetto version of)

that's funny.. before I even read this post I was poking around with a flat head and listenin to all different spots.. It was right before work so I didn't have time to do much and I was poking all 6 injectors and the cylinder towards the front left of the car seemed to be where the tick was the loudest, i'm not sure if it was the injector or not yet but I'll try puttin it on the valve cover too not exactly sure exactly where cam chain is but I'll do some poking around when I have time and some more research (I'm not no ASE certified mechanic..) but I'll do my best, I just want to take care of my sho I don't care if I dump tons of money into it and never get much of it back.. I like the car alot and I wanna make sure she's ok :'( all your help is very appreciated! Thanks

I'll post more hopefully tomorrow after I've listened to it more (it doesn't always tick)
