ok im getting my suspension done, and i have been looking through ALOT of threads about what setup to go with. The thing is is that i want to get everything done right then and there. i have came up with the following, tell me what yall think... take in mind i want something that will last, and still have a firm ride.... This is why i wanted to go with Mikes deal, i get everything i need, with the choice... but if i can build it up better i will, sorry mike... :salute:
MIDWEST SHO- Suspension kit-
Either- Koni- Eibach- Which is 1,040
Tokico's- MOOG- which is 800

which strut last longer? koni or tokico?

Then i found a thread about monroe Sen. with MOOG CC...
Then this is what i came up with..
Monroe Sensatracs- 200 ???
MOOG CC- 150
4 Strut mounts-200
2 Strut bearings-40

i am happy with the monroe's that i have on there, they are nice, but still i would rather have somthing that will last with a performance coil.
i am really cofused on what is the better setup, and i know that there are a lot of different opinions out there, but maybe with that discription it will help yall, help me... thanks guys!!

EDIT: What coils would be best? Koni- intraxs/ koni-Eibach/ koni-Moog
tokico-intraxs/ tokicos-eibach/ tokicos-moog....
the moog coils will be cut 1.5 coils up front.
another thing i was thinking, what about the rear control arms? Do i have to get GM control arms when lowering just the front that much? if i do, then i will get something with fairly close to stock height....

see, i told you i was confused!!!!!!!

After riding in a friends Koni/Intrax set-up, and reading hours of search results, that's what I bought (from Mikey) for our '89. Haven't installed it yet, but am reallly looking forward to it.

What was the ride like? i know that it was dropped, so did they have to get GM control arms? Intraxs drops 1.5 inches right? and 1 in the rear?

For me, the ride was of course much firmer but not harsh. I'm not sure how the Konis were adjusted, firm or soft. I thought the ride height had the right look too. Of course as they say, opinions vary :)

If there aren't any members in your area with different suspension mods for you to check out in person, really all you're left with is the opinions (search) of others - which is actually pretty valuable information :thumb:

Sorry I can't be of more help.

*EDIT* I should add that my suspension is factory original ('89), soft, and the rear has a pretty dramatic sag. With respect to your lowering question, in my case the rear may actually be brought up a little bit once the Intrax are installed...

I don't know whether you're already aware or not, but the Koni's aren't struts, they're strut inserts. You'll need a set of old struts to modify to build a set of struts with the Koni inserts in them.

Tokicos are full strut assemblies, so all you need to do is put the springs on them and you're ready to go.

I am installing my moog/monroe in a few days. From what i have read it is really cheap and will give a better ride than stock because the coils are ment to be stiffer. I dont have $1000 for shocks and struts, so i figured it wouldnt hurt to try this first. With the extra money i bought 22/26 sways and front and rear Strut tower braces.

I allready have SFC's And An H-Brace, so all i really need is a Rear STB to finish the system off. well kinda.... if you know what i mean....

thanks for the update though!!!

What i was worried about was cutting a coil on the MOOG's, and having them on the Monroes. Are you cutting coils? i was going to cut 1.5. im not sure if it will work though.

now i just have to get my axle seal leak fixed... and the TOB, and since im in there, i guess a new clutch.... :bonk:

Thanks Again...

Tokico, intrax here and love the stance of my sho! And on the on and off ramps the sho is on rails! All i need is rear control arms and i'm done! O and remeber to replace your strut mount plates while you are in there. I forgot to do that on mine. And they make so much noise now! I now have to wait till the 3.3L drop in to replace them!

Koni/Eibach's are great. The drop was not large (barely lower than stock) but the ride was amazing. My 94 MTX will be getting this system soon. The price diff from Tokico to Koni's is not that much, but you get adjustability with the Koni's which I like. I have not tried Intrax, but I have heard good things about them.

Concerning TRCA's, don't sweat it. You will not have enough drop that they are required. A nice mod for later, but you will notice a bigger difference with F + R STB's. Plus, I would not get RCA's without also getting knuckle braces.

Tokico/Eibach 24/26 here. I like the ride alot. Amazing on on-ramps. I think it is just right for a daily driven SHO. They are smooth on the highway, but firm up fast as crap when you start to turn, no body roll. I am debating what suspension to put on my turbo sho  , but wont have to worry about suspension on that for about a year and a half considering I havent even started building it yet :nut:

Im still between,
buying everything myself, with Monroe/ and CC's,
or the kit from Midwest. with tokicos/ intrax..

im not in too much of a hurry to get started, but i want to price everything so i know what would be the better deal for me..

If i go my route, with monroe's and CC's, then i have to go buy Strut mounts, strut bearings, and all the other stuff that i need to make my suspension, "new"
i just dont know where to get the stuff from.... like strut mounts, bearings, etc...
With the kit, yeah i will be paying more, but i will get everything i need, for a reasonable price, from what i gather that is....

im leaning towards the Monroe/CC combo, but if when added up everything i need, it comes out to be more than the kit, which i dought... i might as well get the kit....

can someone give me a list of what i need... like strut mounts, bearings, and so on..
is it like the list that comes with the kit?
As of right now, my strut mounts are either cracked, or whatever.... there making noise when i turn at low speeds... like 10mph...
then i want to do the rest, that way later on i dont have to go back in there...
thats why i want the list so i know what all wear items i need to get...
Thanks for the replies guys! even though it looks like im going the totally different direction then what the advice yall gave me.... :bonk: Thanks Again!!!

Then Struttowerbraces STB's
Post on parts wanted.

If you do the job yourself you will need something to cut the springs(not a torch) and a spring compressor(rented or bought)

Any more ?'s pm me i have the part numbers if you want them.
