Let me start from the beginning….. It all started that faithful day back in 1995 when I stormed out of the BMW dealership refusing to pay sticker price for a M3!! If any of you recall it was the first year of the M3 and there wasn’t a dealership in the State that would discount it (I will not pay sticker price for a car out of principle)…anyway to get back to my story… I then proceeded to go directly across the street to the Ford dealership… The next day I was picking up a brand new RED “fully loaded” MTX!! It was a two year lease…(I get board of cars quick)…at the end of those exciting two years I turned it in and walked away from the car…since then I’ve leased a new blazer and an Infiniti… Let me tell you all…I have never forgotten my SHO… out of all the cars that I have ever owned, I’ve never missed a car more than I’ve missed my SHO.. and I’ve owned many sports cars dating back to when I was a senior in High School when I had a brand new Mustang GT Convertible!!
Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago…. I was looking to purchase a Jaguar XJR, for those of you who don’t know the car, it’s a 4door sports sedan with twin supercharges!! Needless to say…it was very nice and very fast!!! But the deal fell through…. Okay I’m stubborn when it comes to dealing for cars!! Then I turned my attention to the new Chevy Tail Blazer… I proceeded to call several dealerships to narrow down my search and drive time…. and as I was waiting for these dealers to get back to me….I just happened to pick up my cousins Want AD… and there it was…. A 1994 SHO… the ad read “new brakes, radiator, starter, tires but something is wrong could be minor could be major - $1750 or BO” Well since it was only 5 minutes down the road… I had to go look at it… well I wound up buying it for $1250!!! The body and interior was PERFECT and on top of that I was able to drive it home…
Okay fast forward to today!! Thanks to all of you on this forum and a couple of mechanic friends…I (we) were able to determine that a couple of the sparkplug wires had shorted out from the oil build up in the spark plug wells!! I ordered new wires, plugs, valve cover and sparkplug well gaskets from FordPartsNetwork.com … I just finished installing the new gaskets, I was a little intimidated at first, but was quite surprised how easy it was!! I haven’t worked on cars in years since I’ve only owned new cars and they were always under warranty!! I was a little nervous as I turned the ignition, not knowing if I screwed up somewhere along the way. Did I miss a bolt, not tighten a screw, etc… My fears were for not…as the car fired right up!! YES!!! I am now a proud owner of a perfectly running SHO!!!!!! I’m BACK…. Only bummer is that it is an ATX… but all is good!! Well that is my story….Sorry for it being so long, I tried to make it as short as possible!! Once again THANKS to everyone on this board, not just the people who answer questions, but also the people who ask the questions!!
