Racer X
SHO Pilot, Retired
So I'm driving the other day, and all of a sudden my SHO has an epileptic fit, and throws the CEL at me. And then it goes away. So does the light.
I get home, and check the codes, and I get:
216 (M) Primary circuit failure - ignition coil 2 - Ignition Systems
I'm almost certain that it's the coil, since it feels like it's missing two cylinders, however there's one weird thing:
Whenever this happens, the tach needle drops about 500-700 RPM, but the actual RPM doesn't. And sometimes, it bobbles back and forth. But never all the way down to 0. I also never have trouble starting it; she always fires on the first turn of the key. Would a failing coil cause this behavior, or should I be looking at something else, like the DIS? Or both?
