well mine fell of today on the way home from work. i guess im lucky it was the alt/ac and not the water pump one!! i bought one from kragen but..it does not have the insert that goes inside the pulley to basically shim it up to fit around the bolt. so my question is will any taurus idler pulley work? it looks like im going to the junk yard tomorrow. and if i cant find the nut, anyone know the thread size??? i belive it is standard and not metric, but i could be mistaken.

thanks
jon

You will need the pulley from a SHO engine.

No substitute on a SLO engine.

Good luck, I just went through this search a few weeks ago. Finally got lucky and scored a set of pulleys from a junkyard.

I bought the 2 idler pulleys from the Ford Stealership, they cost me $79. for upper, and 125 for lower. Done in under an hour.dont get used, I hear more and more idler pulleys going bad.

If it were me I would get the Gen 3 idler pulley. (Not the tensioner pulley.) $53 last time I checked. You would need the gen 3 retaining washer too.

The same pulley that Paul mentioned is also used on the 3.2 L. Ford Part # F3DZ6B217B lists at around $77. FPN price around $64. I do not have the part number for the pulley spacers used on either the 3.2L or 3.4L setup.

This pulley can be used in either position on the 3.0. It just won't have the lips on it that prevent the belt from riding off the pulley which shouldn't be a problem.
