I've done a search and found some info, but where is the idle air control located and how is the best way to test it? :thumb:

The IAC is on the intake just behind the throttle body.

I hear it can be tested with a 9 volt batt.

Removing it and cleaning it can sometimes fix idling problems.

It is behind the throttle body. It looks like a small canister with a 2-wire clip coming out the end of it going towards the fire wall.

When mine went out, Autozone tested mine using a 9 volt battery...that is how the book said to do it...and when the 9 volt is applied, the piston inside should move towards the opposite end of the 2 wire clip creating an opening between the 2 holes (which you cant see when it is installed on the car).

When the car is warmed up and idling disconnect the IAC power. The car will stall if it is good. If it doesn't then there may also be a vacuum leak or the IAC may be bad.

1/4" ratchet with extensions, go back a few snakes and work from there.

The extensions will work, but since I didnt have them I did this.

I unclipped the 2 wire connector. Remove the top screw completely. Then get the allen wrench in there to loosen the bottom screw about 1/2 a turn. (or until you can rotate the IAC) Push the end of the IAC with the connector down towards the intake so that the IAC rotates around the bottom screw still installed. Rotate it until the wire connector portion hits the intake. Now you should have enough room to remove the bottom screw.

Same thing I did. Took like 5 minutes total. :thumb:

But once you've tested it, be careful installing it back. It gets pretty tight for that bottom screw, as I've accidentally dropped it before :bonk:
