Does anyone know the position of the IAC valve when it is removed from the car? Is it closed or partially open?
Thanks,
Fred

Every one I have seen/removed/cleaned has been slightly open. Probably the position to maintain the idle when the engine was shut down or the position to start the engine.

As a matter of fact I just came upstairs from cleaning my IAB valve. Mine was partially opened and dirty after 50K miles. I followed all the steps from the "shotimes" web site and it went well.
Don't forget to put anti-seize compound on the bolts when you put it back.
