I have taken off my my everything from the air box upto where I am at now.

I have noticed that both the Allen head screws on the IAC are both stripped on the inside and out.
I hit it with so PB spray and still cant get them loose and the allen key **;e looks tobe rounded on the inside. (who ever worked on it brfore I got the car)

Any suggestions.

Also it looks like the inside of the intake manafold is black as night.

You can probably get the top one off with vise grips but getting the lower one out might be a chore. But with the intake you might have more access to it with the vise grips.

Taking off the intake may be the best bet, plus you can clean it up while it's off. Took about 10 cans of Berryman's and overnight to insure dryness.

When I pulled mine off, the lower bolt stripped a little. Luckily I was able to use a hex socket by routing an extension through the intake runners and tapping the socket fully into the allen bolt. You wont be able to use a ratchet with the extension because the valves on the intake runners will be in the way of a straight shot. I then used vise grips clamped on the socket to loosen the bolt. It was slow going ( a little at a time) but it got the bolt out.
Also after you have the top bolt out the IAC should be able to be wiggled to help break free the lower bolt a little, it will also help to give a little more clearance for the vise grips if you push it towards the firewall though not very much I'm afraid.
Hope this helps and good luck let us know the results.

Well that was a task and a half.

I went out and got some esay outs and got the top one out.

The bottom one was esay to get out after finding out that the allen screws where a number 5 Metric.

I do need to find 2 new screws and none of the auto part stores around here carry them or the platic gassket between the throtle body and the manafold.
I will have to try a Ford dealer tomarrow.

I filled the AIC up with C&C cleaner and having it soak till tomarrow to clean it out.

Is there anything else I should know before I put it back together tomarrow?

Thanks

I was careful to try and not get carb cleaner in the electronics, mine was the one piece type that didnt separate. After I re-installed mine at first I had some howling that seemed to be resonating through the throttle body but the next morning when I started it up it had resolved itself.I'm still not sure what was causing it, my best guess is that all the carb cleaner hadnt evaporated out before I put it back on or some carbon broke loose and temporarily blocked an airway.

Ok,
Found out my AIC is junk.
Autozone said it would take 3-5 days to get one and no one else has one.

I went to my ford dealer and they can get me one for me tomarrow morning. :D
But the part will be costing 40 dollers more then Autozone's one. madflame

Now heres the hard part.
the 2 5mm x 10mm hex locking screws are disscontinued and dont come with the AIC to hook it up. I am ganna have to find hardware store who has something simular that I can use.

I will let you know how it comes out seeing I will be doing all this in the driveway during Massachusetts Noreaster thumb
