i broke the tension with a breaker bar then was loosening like regular then it started to get extremely hard to wrench when the 3/4 nut got to the end of the bolt...
its not hitting the socket yet and i've tried using the breaker bar again but its still extremely tough and i'm afrad i'm about to break my 1/4" ratchet...

Heat, or tighten it back up a little bit, spray some PB or something in there, possibly brush off the end of the bolt with a steel brush or something. And if your worried about your ratchet, buy a craftsman.

Cut off wheel. Heat.

Take your pick...

It's a locknut, it's meant to not come off.

correct.

you can also drill the nut to weaken it, then split with a chisel.
for a stronger 5/16 socket, get a 3/8 drive allen bit socket and take the bit out so you can use it like a socket
