Okay, last night I took my SHO out to put some gas in her for a trip I have to take today, but on the way there, an interesting thing happened. My passenger side muffler came off. Now the exhaust note isn't any louder, because there was already a severe hole in that pipe, but now I have a muffler in my trunk, and not one damn clue as to how much it costs to get my exhaust either repaired or replaced. So here's where you come in GLSS! Does anyone here know of any Southeastern MI shops that will either repair my current exhaust, or just weld a new muffler on for relatively cheap? If so, what should I be looking to spend? What kind of muffler should I replace it with if I just wanna have this car be stock, or close to it? Any information would be well appreciated, I'm not a huge fan of driving around with one muffler, and SHOs and their parts, repair, and management is all new to me.

Jacen, I'll check it out tonight. Maybe a $30 murrays muffler and clamps will work until you can pony up $300 for a complete dynomax system.

well, I just heard from one of my friends that he could pull $300 for a completely replaced manifold back (using the stock CATs) system parts and labor included, at his old work, so once we get an idea, I can get a better quote from him.

I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any good shops 'round here.

Man u need to find someone that knows someone. I got all of my custom work done at one shop. This included 2.5 inch downpipe to a 3 inch system all the way back. All for 250 bucks. Im sure some one can do you a full pipe repair for less what what mine was considering you wont be going nearly as big as i did.

was that P+L?!?!! if so, good lord. personally i'd like 2.25 from mani back with stock cats and resonators remaining, but I don't think I'll find new mufflers and all of that piping anytime soon for my income level, and I have nothing sellable.

Feel like driving up to Chesterfield? If so I've got some good 'ole boys who do all my exhaust work for next to nothing. They are the only ones I ever had do exhaust work on my 91 after I moved where I am now.

If not, any Midas place can replace 1 muffler for about $50, 2 for $100 OTD. To fix up your rear Y and replace the muffler you'd probably be looking at about $150. The only complaint I have about Midas is that the mufflers they use tend to rust out where they meet the pipe, I had to take mine back for warranty work after about 2 years of use. Other than that I had no complaints and the shop I went to always did good work.

Well, how much are we talking? And would I need to provide parts? because if parts are there, and the price is right, I'll definitely go there to make sure the car doesn't always sound like I'm flooring it.

I can't say what they'll charge since I don't work for them but any time I've had work done it's been less than what Midas charged. I had them replace a cat in my PP pipe when one got damaged. They removed the y-pipe from the car, cut out the old cat, welded in the replacement, reinstalled the pipe and then fixed my rear catback (patched a few holes) and they only charged me $25.00. (I supplied the replacement cat.) Normally I believe they stock generic mufflers and they bend their own pipes so if a piece of pipe was needed they certainly would be able to do it.

If you want to call them or drive out here's their information:
