Well, i am in the process of getting my '92 back on the road. It only needs a few more things and it'll be done. But, anyway i need to know how to install/uninstall two things: A left rear ABS wheel sensor and the Emergency brake.

Well, i need to pull a ABS sensor from a '94 ATX, but first i want to know if it will even work on my '92 MTX? Also, would it be possible to take it off with the wheel on? Please be detailed, pictures would be great. :)

Next the Emergency brake. I need to pull everything from the '94 ATX. Again, will this even work on my '92 MTX? Its the hook up in the rear, everything that connects from the cable to the brake, or however it work.

And these parts arn't from my '94, its a Parts car '94 ATX. So if you can help, please do. :) :salute:

Unfortunatly it is next to impossible to pull abs sensors because they have aluminum housing that sits in a cast iron wheel hub. Since you are in the rust belt i doubt you will be sucessfull in reusing the old abs sensors, i guess if you track the wiring down you could pull the whole hub and swap that over but then you are dealing wiht suspension doohas and every rear suspension i worked on has been a PITA.

As far as the e-brake goes, the ATX have an auto release type e-brake. Which means that when the car is in gear it will automatically release the brake, i'm not sure if it can be used on an mtx maybe somoene else will chime in.

Heyyyy, my cars are rust-free. :) I'm not sure about the '94 Parts car though. But if it was rust-free, atleast in that area. Would it be possible?

the car may be rust free but a 10yr+ old car has seen its share of winters and salt. Most abs sensors are original, the only ones i've ever heard of being able to come out undamaged were cars in arizona.

But in any part of the country wiht decent winters oxidation is boosted insanely, no matter how good the body may be. You best bet is to try your hardest and take your time.

My theory on the abs sensors is that aluminum acts as a catalyst for corrosion in the cast iron shell.

Well, i don't even know where they are located on the wheel. Hence why i wanted a picture. lol, I don't even know what size wrench you need to pull it off either.. or what else is involved.

It's pretty obvious when you look at the wheel. There's a sensor right near a toothed ring on the inside of the hub/spindle. Look for the wire and follow it. The only thing holding it in is a small hex bolt.

Actually I think the sensor case is stainless, but it doesn't matter as the cast iron that surrounds it is the problem. I think it's a dumb design as the sensor didn't need to be inserted into a full hole for a solid mount. An open U-shaped slot with a couple small bolts would have done it perfectly and helped removal odds a ton. IMHO.
