i need help

had codes pulled on the engine of my 98 sho and it said i had a bad VSS (vhicle speed sensor), was wondering if this is an easy install, another question i have is that is there a correllation between the bad VSS and the fact that at high temps i loose my speedo and the o/d off lite comes on. will fixing the VSS solve this problem? i hope so

I can see the vss causing those problems. Especially no speedo. I could see it turn on the overdrive light too as the vss works with the ECM to tell the tranny to shift. Now the light is just comeing on and it stays in od right? If it's shifting out of od you might have bigger problems. When the od light came on in my windstar the tranny went out that evening and cost $1700 to repair! But it sound s like a vss should fix your problem.

yeah it stays in o/d but sometimes it goes out of it as well, i mean it goes absolutely nuts then i use the second gear all together when i loose power on the third. is the vss easy to install at all
