Ok well I got this car really really cheap. I love this car. Its a 91 SHO + and the AC blows cold heater blows hot. But since I got it iv had nothing but brake downs with it so im douting it. I have to drive my SHO from Cali to Texas.

The first thing, the car would not get up to running temp. So i put in a new thermostat. When I did that and the system built presure the rad started sprayin out of the end caps. So I put in a new rad. Then one day later im driving the car and it just dies. So I pull the motor down and see that the water pump went bad. I replace the water pump, CPS, and the crank seal. The timing belt looked fine and the car went back together and now it runs fine. Its not throwing any codes and seems to be running like a champ.

The only thing that is bugging me now is that when I turn on the heater that I can fill the motor pulsing. I mean that I can fell a loss of power with it on. This could be the AC conpreser kicking on but should it kick on with the heater on?

I NEED some reassurace that my car will make it the 2000 miles down the road.:help:

the A/C compressor WILL cycle any time the defroster's on. first pop the hood while the car's running and the engine's "pulsing" and see if the compressor's spinnin. You don't wanna look where the belt is, but the outside of the pully and see if it's whirrin. Then flip it down to just the floor and see if it still does it.

Agreed, A/C works when the heat is on to help dry the air and defrost the windows.

For the long trip, you can disable the A/C to save gas or keep the compressor from running. There are 2 plugs that will work, the pressure switch and the clutch switch.

Both are near the battery on the 91. One is plugged into the top of the large canister(pressure switch) and the other is plugged into the compressor directly behind the pully(clutch).

Disconnecting either of those will disable the A/C.

I only say this because running the A/C should not cause the car to pulse from loss of power. If the belt starts to slip, you risk losing it and having no alternator.

I'd suggest air pockets in your coolant - when you replaced the water pump, did you turn your heat on full blast and let the radiator fan cycle twice while adding fluid?

I had a slow leak (cracked hose in the intake coolant line) in my miata, and when the air pocket would hit the thermometer my fuel pressure would shoot up as the car tried to compensate - which felt like a stumble.
