upon torrie's recommendation, i fabbed up a cai today.

he said an open air filter would allow the boost to be heard and it won' affect the tune.

so, i ripped off the stock airbox and pulled the iat sensor. i ended up reusing the rubber tubing and used it to pop the iat sensor into. i used a 3" bend from lowes plumbing dept for the mounting point.

it seemed to fit good, and the 3 1/2" k&n clamped on perfectly. I did end up adding a couple zip ties for now to hold it in place.

took her out for a spin and especially from the drivers seat. you can definately hear the boost!!!

probably gonna powdercoat or paint the tube black

i'll be hitting the track tonight and see what the tune picked up

Ya this is a bit too form over function for me... Maybe somehow extend the tube into the fenderwell?

95% of all cai's out there, mustangs and such use a cai identical to this form

the only difference will be there will be some type of shielding added around it in either a metal or plastic form

you think hot air is a problem on a turbo car? it charges/heats the air with the turbos, then sends it through the intercooler. thus no issues in pulling air from the engine bay. is quite alright.

This would be true if the intercoolers could magically cool the charged air to a set point (say 110 degrees f), but for the small amount of time that the air is actually in the intercooler it only shaves off a few degrees. So if you start with hotter air, you will still end with hotter air.

On the Bi-turbo audi cars people originally jumped on these cold air intakes, then found out the truth and put back in the stock intake systems. On another note we also found out that the K&N filters destroy the maf filters. Not sure if they would have the same effect on the new SHO's electronics.

Once the aftermarket makes a set of down pipes for this car, you will definitely start to hear the turbos.

Sure, if you have a horrible heat exchanger system. If your intercooler is not removing AT LEAST 100-120 degrees, you need a new system.

The 2010 SHO does not have a MAF sensor, it is speed density.

honestly i dont get all the ******** and criticism toward most of his posts.......how many of us have a 10' SHO?????......how many of us have even thought about modding one?????......so rite there he already has a jump on us dont u think???

the 10' is a completely different car than ours......let him try shit and c what works......it dont work those of us who get one know not to do it or do it different, and if whatever it is works then we know for a fact it works without being the guinea pig ourselves

are some of you really that jealous, guess i just dont get it personally???????

agrred, alex's turbo sho had 85 degree intake temps on a 75 degree day while beating the living snot out of the car.

if your IC only removes a "few degrees" YOUR DOING IT WRONG and should probably give up before your engine does

and ultimatesho is right, hes taking a brand new car and throwing mods on it, hes not the type that wants the warranty to run out before he starts modding it. give the guy a BIT of credit here

wtf

I agree. I will be adding a larger radiator for the intercooler coolant and doubling the capacity of the cooling system. I don't expect any large increases in power, but I think cooler the intake charge, better for the engine. If the extra cooling capacity helps I think I should see a small drop in boost pressure.
