Last time I had a 94 Red SHO auto that rusted out, this time it's the same 3.2 engine in a 92 Sable and now with a 5 speed!

It's my daughters early 18th birthday present. Custom painted and pinstriped to her wants, and she did quite a bit of the work herself. For the doubters, she took better to the manual than most people I have taught, girl or boy.

Pics ASAP, it's a very cool car, and unique, like her.;)

Teaser PICS as promised;
IMG 1088 zps4o0iqyziThe shifter ball is worn a bit. It's what I did for her today. Found out what it's gonna take. I'm a tool and die man, I'll tighten it up.;)

IMG 1089 zpssllq5twjBeautiful, potent, durable motors. When it was mine, I would hit 7k EVERY time I drove it, at least once.:hi5:

IMG 1087 zpsj8zeez5lCOOOL.

This car has history, scar tissue, and it shows.

My son and I, mostly my son, are the ones who put the car together in the first place about 4 years ago for HIS graduation. (of course I paid for everything) He's the one that painted the intake satin black and put in the big rad. Unfortunately he also did an AC delete for raciness, in a car with a black leather interior.o_O

He went off to college and some dufus ran into him fairly hard in the right front. He tried but he couldn't get it reliable and straight on college years money so it sat in my yard for a while after that. (and that's when the tree fell on it) Then he sold it to his cousin, another SHO nut. It sat in HIS yard for a year or so. My nephew told me he probably wouldn't be able to get to it for a long time so I traded an old running truck to get it back.

Pretty beat up and neglected, I had to buy a front clip from a SHO Taurus for it, an alternator, and all new front brakes. The front clip was black and since it needed new paint, that's what my daughter wanted, black. BUT since it was pretty rough, I talked her into the satin black by spraying one of the doors with black Plasti-Dip. She loved it, and I was VERY close to doing it in the Plasti-Dip, but I literally couldn't pull the trigger, so a friend of mine that works as the body shop manager in a local Ford dealership did it in Satin Black for her, at cost, plus a few six packs of some very good beers.:cheers:My daughter and me did ALL of the prep, and she did most of the door jambs and taping. (The door jambs are a combination of gloss black and RED.:cool: Her idea and her work. I'll post a pic soon.) The paint itself was pretty cheap as paint goes, and one step, but stil $234 a gallon.:eek: The paint supplier said it was similar to Imron, very tough. My buddy talked me into pin striping it, and asked for some inspiration. (I wanted just a single gloss black stripe along the normal line. My buddy was right.) If you look close you can see the many details in the striping. The striper WAS inspired. The one just above the door handle is my daughters monogram, a twin to the tattoo on her right ankle. There's a classic one on the hood that I'll snap a pic of and post soon.

I did get my gloss black pin stripe though.:) (You CAN see it in the pic.)

We live in the 'burbs so not a lot of city driving. I have driven cars for years without cooling fans with no problem, but, she's getting a fan.:rolleyes:

Very nice! SHO powered Sables are the best! My wagon was probably my favorite car just because of how much of a sleeper it was. Looks like you and your daughter took a lot of time with the details. Should be a blast to drive!

Satin black intake? Double core aluminum radiator?

She wants the snakes and cam covers BRIGHT silver, bordering on polished stainless or chrome. My nephew has some spare parts he's gonna give us so that it is down a short amount of time as possible.:cool:

Thanks, she loves it! And for the record it's licensed and we drive it all the time. It is fun for sure, but I think I see the dread front compliance strut subframe mount seperation, and I don't think the IMRC is working.

There is always something to fix on these cars. But it sounds like you don't mind a few projects :)
