My son and I, mostly my son, are the ones who put the car together in the first place about 4 years ago for HIS graduation. (of course I paid for everything) He's the one that painted the intake satin black and put in the big rad. Unfortunately he also did an AC delete for raciness, in a car with a black leather interior.
He went off to college and some dufus ran into him fairly hard in the right front. He tried but he couldn't get it reliable and straight on college years money so it sat in my yard for a while after that. (and that's when the tree fell on it) Then he sold it to his cousin, another SHO nut. It sat in HIS yard for a year or so. My nephew told me he probably wouldn't be able to get to it for a long time so I traded an old running truck to get it back.
Pretty beat up and neglected, I had to buy a front clip from a SHO Taurus for it, an alternator, and all new front brakes. The front clip was black and since it needed new paint, that's what my daughter wanted, black. BUT since it was pretty rough, I talked her into the satin black by spraying one of the doors with black Plasti-Dip. She loved it, and I was VERY close to doing it in the Plasti-Dip, but I literally couldn't pull the trigger, so a friend of mine that works as the body shop manager in a local Ford dealership did it in Satin Black for her, at cost, plus a few six packs of some very good beers.

My daughter and me did ALL of the prep, and she did most of the door jambs and taping. (The door jambs are a combination of gloss black and RED.

Her idea and her work. I'll post a pic soon.) The paint itself was pretty cheap as paint goes, and one step, but stil $234 a gallon.

The paint supplier said it was similar to Imron, very tough. My buddy talked me into pin striping it, and asked for some inspiration. (I wanted just a single gloss black stripe along the normal line. My buddy was right.) If you look close you can see the many details in the striping. The striper WAS inspired. The one just above the door handle is my daughters monogram, a twin to the tattoo on her right ankle. There's a classic one on the hood that I'll snap a pic of and post soon.
I did get my gloss black pin stripe though.

(You CAN see it in the pic.)
