I have a 1989 SHO that we've brought to a few different shops. Engine cut out right after we got an awesome paint job.

The issue seems to be the water pump drips onto the crank shaft sensor and destroys it.
We have been looking all over for a new crank shaft position sensor but to no avail.
Is there a work around? Or some magic person that gives them out as they see fit?

Let me know,

A new batch is being made and was started by someone from the Thunderbird Super Coupe forum.
It will be about $160.00.
There are references to this on this forum if you do the search.

Otherwise it is available on the used market, on this forum, as they come up when cars are parted out.

Search for that sensor info. The person organizing it is a Tbird guy. They use the same part and have the same issue. You can look at their forums for info as well.

You can use a CAM sensor as a Crank sensor....it will have to be broken down and modified for the mounting surface and pinout will have to be converted to the Crank sensor plugs but it is essentially the exact same sensor that reads the exact same signals to the exact same computer....i have been wanting to built one to prove it will work but just not there yet...it will work!

its on my very looooooong list of "to do's"...I have an extra cam sensor but I am not tearing back into my motor unless I have to at this point so let me see what I can do to make a quick prototype...I havent given a good look to the 3.2...does it use the same crank sensor?

Since they are the same, I can use my 3.2 to mock one up when I get a chance.
