Its a 93 Red ATX fully loaded with black leather... BUT the gas gage broke its stuck on a 1/2 a tank. How many miles should I go? Or does anybody know if this is a quick fix?

Not sure how to fix it but I'll try to help as far as telling you the range. I have only had my SHO for about 4-5 tanks now but it seems to be consistently at about high 300s per tank (I'm getting about 24 mi/gal). I do about 80% highway. So to play it safe I would fill up every 300. Good luck.

I would fill it, drive ~200 miles, and fill it again, and figure out your fuel mileage. Then take than x13 to get the number of miles you can safely drive before you start to look for a gas station. The SHO has an 18 gallon tank, but I find that the low fuel light in mine is on after I've used 13-14 gallons.

Chris,

You could go to your local library, in the reference section, and look at the service manuals. In the instrument cluster section there will be tests for the instruments, including the fuel gauge.

If all of the other instruments work it cannot be a lack of power to the gauge. That leaves you with a poor connection, either power or ground, or a faulty gauge.

See the wireing diagrams posted by Bizzy for you model year. This will tell you where all of the connections are. Check the connections for corrosion or a broken connection.

Sometimes just unplugging, and plugging back in, helps to "reconnect" the faulty unit.

Lastly, you can get a gauge from the local recycling yard, or buy a new one.

Until the problem is fixed, either keep the tank full or get a AAA card! rangerj

Another possible reason the gauge isn't working is a possible broken fuel pump float. The float relays the gas level to the fuel gauge. If it's broken or stuck then it's not going to send an accurate fuel measurement to the gauge.
