It recently got hot here in NJ. When I start the car, and the HVAC is in Auto mode, it starts at Medium fan speed and stays there. In all my prior vehicles, the system automatically goes into MaxAC mode until the interior cools down and then sets the fan speed at a lower speed. The AC is cold so it's not related to the amount of cool air. If I manually select the MaxAC mode, it works correctly. Anyone else experiencing this? Am I doing something wrong? Or do I need to bring it in?

It is working as designed. The older systems, like I have in my 2008 Expedition, will blow high fan at start up. This gets REALLY annoying when you want to hear the phone, or the radio or anyone talking. I noticed my Taurus working ay you describe, which actually makes things a bit more comfy.

Hmmm. Well I made an appointment for Monday morning. We'll see what they say about it. Maybe it is normal.

When you get in your car, and its 120 degrees in there in the summer, its probably easier to draw amient, 90 degree air from outside and cool it rather than recirculating the 120 degree air inside the car.

I always turn off HVAC when I park the car.

I usually open the windows as I approach, get in, start the car, hit the auto button, drive with the windows open for a minute or so, then roll up and hit Max.

I usually open the sunroof a little to allow the hot air to evacuate up and out but still the fan usually goes to full speed automatically. That's my question. My car's system is not doing that. We'll see Monday.

True once it gets cooler in the car. Recirculating and cooling that 120 degree air will result in a quicker cool down of the car as the first pass will cool it to, say 100 then 80, etc...

It's the one thing that bothers me about the HVAC in the SHO - when it senses it's insanely hot in the car it should switch to recirc and then after some time kick it back into fresh air mode.

Had the car at the dealer today. They confirmed that the operation is normal. So it seems if you want the AC to operate at max fan speed you have to select that manually.
