Hi all,

Apparently i cannot search being a new member, i checked the announcement up to and clicked the link, says i do not have access, so sorry if this has been covered before. I did go through several pages to no avail.

Soooo, i have a '93 and a '94 SHO both are Automatics...i assume atx is the nomenclature used here.

The '94 idles pretty smoothly, and as i slowly rev in the driveway it seems ok up until the point where i see the secondaries actuate, then they start fluctuating back/fourth relatively rapidly which makes the engine "hunt" for lack of a better description.

Also when i dump the throttle, she bogs but eventually revs to the secondary issue, but will sit and seem to idle ok.

I recently powerwashed the engine in order to isolate/detect oil leaks and had to suck out water from spark plugs with my marine oil changer( I further flushed/rinsed the recesses with brake cleaner, the vaccumned again, pulled the plugs - looked good, re-inserted.

Thanks in advance for your help. I currently do not have a service manual as i recently picked up the '94 and have only had the '93 with no issues.

Don't be an a-hole, not every car has a P/N rev limiter.

ES, the Taurus has a fuel cut (IIRC) rev limiter in Park and Neutral, limiting the RPM to 4000RPM. Secondaries open at 3950RPM, which is why the butterflies are cycling as you saw.

Powerwashing is also not the greatest idea, for the reasons you discovered (the plug boots don't exactly seal the wells very well).

Also, these questions, and many more have been answered already. The search tool will be a great asset to you in maintaining and learning about your SHO.

Thanks YZ, makes perfect sense....funny thing was it was acting up briefly on the road just prior to checking it out to notice this characteristic.

Thanks for sticking up for me! (even thought you did probably break a forum rule with the profanity!:dig: :urock:)

Thanks....I can appreciate the search feature, but aparently an administrator needed to activate my account in order for me to do so.....it is available to me to do so now, yippe! I have lots of questions and love the car...I might pick up a MTX too since they are so cheap. My neighbors think i'm a little weird with the two as it is (same color does look a little strange i must admit) I feel a bit stupid with the rev limiter being such common knowledge. I'll check out shotimes.com too. Looking forward to hanging out!
