Hello,
I've leased a 2019 SHO. Obviously not going to mod it...much (insert devilish grin here). The lease ends with the 36-month B2B warranty. I owned a 2016 Limited (FWD) that was plenty strong for me. I'm "financially risk averse" and things like internal water pump issues switched me from owner to renter. I wanted 4WD and was at the end of 36-months owning the Limited and sold it to the dealer. At that time was told, "No more ordering Taurus, the model is dead". Dealer found this SHO with the Driver Assist package. There were some comfort features on the Limited I miss in the SHO: motorized rear window shade, entry assist driver seat, massage seats, and I'm not a fan of SHO paddle shifters. Biggest SHO drawbacks so far are the silver metalic mesh finished dash, droopy headliner at back window (TSB tried to address it) and 19MPG. So I signed up here to learn about improving the MPG (chip?) and what can be done without impacting my lease/warranty.

It's a twin turbo car with AWD parts providing extra driveline drag. You won't get good mileage compared to a regular Taurus.
You can try and drive without engaging the turbos as often I guess..but that defeats the purpose of a Super High Performace (SHO) vehicle.
The only tune that most are interested in take mileage in the opposite direction. Any significant modification to the operation of the vehicle could theoretically impact your warranty if someone doing warranty work wanted to make a stink about it. Not very common, but it is their right to do so.
