I did a search and I could not find a method to check the DIS if it is good with a multi-meter.

Right now I am not getting spark to any of the front bank plugs. (or rear, but I did not check those).

BTW where would I get a new DIS? Links and price would be nice.

I don't want to replace it to find out that the coils took a dump.

Also 93 I have the exact same problem. Check your codes and also check my thread entitled "Engine quit and wont start". A lot of good info on there from many people that are much more knowledgable than I.

I read your post( http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=10325 ) and it does sound like we have similiar problems. But no-one has answered exactly how to test the DIS module and which wire is hot to the coil packs.

I have a strong feeling it is the DIS because it has been floating around on my work bench for the past year and I think that it might have taken some damage. The car ran before (poorly,) the Crank cancer screwed up the timming, but it still fired.

I would prefer to get a DIS from a parts store with warranty, but first I want to make sure it is the DIS.

Have you searched for testing the DIS (EEC IV) under my signature?

I have posted the whole series of tests several times. If you cannot find one of the posts let me know and I'll post it all again. rangerj

I could not find step by step what to test on the DIS from any post. I do know how to pull codes from the EEC IV, but that does not help me in finding if the DIS is malfunctioning sense the only code I get is 111. (The computer has been cleared sense the battery had been off for so long).

93nighthawk did you see the post I made on the second page? I reposted some of rangerj's info. Here it is again, and hopefully it will help you.

All that having been said, here is how to test your CPS, (aka PIP or CKP) to control unit.

Connect a DMM or LED test light between the PIP wire (DB Dark Blue) and the negative battery terminal. Then crank the engine. The test light should blink, or the DMM should read betweem 3 to 7 volts.

If NOT, the crank sensor, crank sensor POWER or GROUND, or wiring is faulty.

PIP signal is OK, then next test, SPOUT to DIS module.

Connect DMM or LED to SPOUT wire( Y/LG Yellow Light Green stripe) and negative battery terminal, then crank engine. You should get 3 to 7 volts or the test light blinks. If NOT, the control unit or wiring( including connection) is faulty. If OK, next test.

Connect DMM or LED test light between the IDM wire(GY/O Grey/Orange stripe) and negative battery terminal and crank the engine. Again 3 to 7 volts or the LED light blinks. If NOT DIS wiring or module faulty. If OK, next test.

CID to Sensor. Connect LEDtest light between CID CS wire (DG Dark Green) and negative battery terminal and crank engine. The test light should blink. If not, CID sensor or wiring is faulty. If OK, next test.

COIL PWR. Connect LED test light between COIL PWR (VBAT) wire and negative battery terminal and put the key on. The light should be ON (LIGHT UP). If not COIL PWR wiring faulty.

DIS electrical tests concluded. Hope this helps, rangerj
