Alright. I'm trying to get to the CPS for replacement but the darn bolt for the crank pulley just won't come off. I've been working on it for 3 days now with a 500 ft/lb working torque impact gun but to no avail. This bolt isn't reverse threaded is it? I don't want to heat the bolt because I don't want to have to replace any seals afterwards but man, this thing just won't budge. Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is one more method i have used on other cars but it is really unsafe, but its an idea. Put a breaker bar on it and crank the engine with the coil pack unpluged. THIS IS A LAST RESORT. Mine came off with some good **** and about a half hour straight with a 1/2" impact gun(ingersol-rand). I swear by that gun. 600ft/lbs of torque. Try a different impact first.

i recently took the pulley off, used an impact wrench and it worked fine, its not reverse threading. When you do take off your CPS you must not force it. It comes off a certain way. The screws are very hard to get off so handle them with care. I recommend a nice DC drill to do this with a fine tip. Once you loosen the 2 screws you might have to wiggle or turn the pulley to dislodge the sensor.

Last resort? Naaaah. the "starter bump" method is the most common way to do it. Have yet to see it not work, although I have seen it take a few tries.

Word. I've done this a ton of times on several SHOs, never had a problem. Let me think here... 1/2 an hour with an impact gun or 1/2 a second with the starter... hmmm....

http://www.shophoenixproject.com/ check that out for some tips.

Ok, so I think I'll try the "Starter Bump" method. But this brings up another question... I've had a couple of breaker bars and they both broke (I like to abuse them).... one was a husky and the other was a craftsman. Soooooo, any recommendations on who makes a good, tough breaker bar? Any other tips to keep in mind when using this method?

Thanks

I have done this on two sho's using an impact wrench. Usually comes off in about 1 minute. No problems, sorry to hear it wont come off easy.

Two to one you're going to have to replace that crank seal if it's the original seal. Trust me. I skipped that seal when I did my 3.2 swap back in the summer, now I'm down into the engine again doing a long awaited cam swap, guess what I found, fresh oil seepage from the crank seal.
