How to remove headrests?

Well, I pondered over posting this here, but I am replacing my drivers seat so I consider that a mod so I thought I would stick it here. I am having my drivers seat redone and patching some pieces in from another seat but I have a problem. I cannot get the headrests out of the seat. The Helms has me unscrew the black retainers then compress the foam and take out the springs, then pull out the head rest. I have attempted this several times for several days with no avail. So, is there someone who has done this before that can help me get these things out? I have the black retainers unscrewed but can get no farther than that.

There is a metel clip that looks like a big hair pin that goes through the plastic part that the black retainers screw into. You can get them out from the top but its tough. The slide to one side or the other but not forward or backward. Try using a small screw driver to slide it out, also if you have long arms you may be able to unzip the bottom of the seat and reach up and get the clip undone.
