I prefer tub-o-**** ease....

Whenever a mechanic has to touch the subframe, you will be looking at a 4 digit number on the bad side of the decimal. Just be prepared.

honestly...i totally have faith that you could do it yourself with a few sockets and a can of pb blaster. however if you are going the shop route...ky jelly ftw! lol good luck man.

I had a quote of $150 for labor to replace the rack. I went cheap and did it myself only to think that $150 would have been a bargain for the mess and effort involved. Be aware that the alignment must be redone after the replacement. This may already be paid for if you have an extended period alignment policy with a shop.

A second rack swap (lifetime warranty) many years later reminded me how much not fun the rack service is.

Hoenstly, I just changed one out for a Girl around me in her 93 ATX, and I didn't think it was all that bad. I ended up charging her $220 for parts and labor total, I kinda thought I overcharged her since everyone made it sound extremely hard, and it turned out not to be such a big deal...

to me, the hardest part was getting the cover off from around the steering shaft inside the car. my big hands didn't fit around well enough to get to the top bolt.
