A 3.6L with all the bolt-ons, stage 2 cams, forged 10.5 to 1 piston and ported heads output 265whp/255wft-lbs on a dynojet. Some of the rewelded crankshaft broke when used with a supercharger. I am not aware of any failures with the custom made crankshaft. The big downside with the custom crankshaft was cost.

Bob

I remember hearing about the Sho Shop ones, and that there was an issue with the cranks. Thought I remembered a forum member built one too...maybe for his hillclimb car? I think it ended up being a 3.4. The torque number you listed would be awsome. With the whp listed it either couldn't be revved as high, or the torque dropped off early. I wonder if the heads and exhaust could flow well enough to keep up?

they flow well enough w/ 15 psi boost, so I'd think they would handle 20% more displacement with no problem at all.

What all did you do to your intake? Seems like alot of $ if you are just talking about performance mods and no camms (if you count those as intake).
I definitly agree that its not the most powerful v6 out there anymore, but I still say the powerband can make one with brakes and suspension a blast to drive.
I Had Bought The BBB's from ShoSource along with the high flow cat-less Y-pipe, and ported intake, i also bought a whole new intake off a guy that had it cleaned and powdercoated here on the forum. Total was around 920ish. So i say 1k to make people go "you spent how much on a Taurus?"

The heads and exhaust aren't the cause of restriction. The problem is in the intake manifold.

Okay, with the y-pipe, extra intake and powdercoating the $ makes since. I was thinking just intake performance mods.....BBB, porting, maybe a MAF or CAI.

Yeah, I try not to think about how much I have spent on mine. Total it is atleast twice what I paid for the car.

Take a ride in a boosted SHO and realize that no traction in first truly means that. No messing with the clutch, roll on and break them at will.

My N/A car can do this. and I have pretty darn good tires. too bad they suck in 30 degree weather. LOL

This is at least 100whp ago, 5,400 ft ASL, and not cold outside. The tires in the above video are still able to fight for traction.

We're talking about SHO traction issues.

What version of Pirelli PZero?

In stock form the intake manifold can become a restriction at some point, but I personally believe it to be a masterpiece, and one could easliy put 100+ hours into moding the intake to flow amazing. Then the restriction is not having varaible lift...

Traction Issues? Yea, My 95 has those. And the tires that came with the 95 were EXCELLENT tires. Kuhmo Ecsta MX. (235/45/17).

You can hear me having to roll in to the throttle in 1st gear, and still feather it (On the first two pulls). I should also mention, my S/C SHO is a TONS less powerful then Jasons.

Who's the goof driving ? ......

I kid Sam :p

Ive been researching sticky tires lately as I believe I'll be ordering a set of black team dynamics wheels for the turbo car as a Christmas present. It will be looking much different when I unveil all the changes after the new year.

... And making lots mo powa ;)

Good Idea, I'll stick with my suggestion of on Direzza Star Specs or Hankook RS3's. The only advantage to the star specs over the RS3's is that the Star Specs will handle the wet weather a little bit better. Both are cheap in a 245/45/17 when you consider how much performance your getting.

I have the Bridgestone Potenza re760's and I wish I would have gone with the star spec. Although for the money I paid. almost 40$ off each tire it was a steal. great tire for what i paid. Ill be looking into some nitto nt555 extreme drag radials for the front soon.

I'll be running VictoRacer's up front and Star Specs in the rear after winter hibernation. 245/45/17 front and rear.

Sam, I couldn't find RS-3's in 245/45/17.

Drag Racing vs. ?

Bad post title, but for me I think that the most fun you can have in a Gen I/II SHO that's still practical to drive on the street is autocrossing, or at a road race track track day. And twisty roads through the foothills! (Oooops, did I say that?) They were not 'built' for quick acceleration because of the noted traction problems associated with FWD, and the weak tranny, guess you all know that.
